Just imagine them unionized (which is what the Dems want).

Dr Obamungumbe will simply insist that peasant doctors give a minimum number of orders per day...malpractice will continue as usual.

The formally profitable non-profit large hospital system my wife works for is already threatening furloughs due to Obamacare. They whacked all of their interns.

Doctors aren’t working anymore than they have to since it doesn’t pay.

Free healthcare is about to get really expensive and crappy.

Whole other story is how we don’t have enough docs and nurses now, and you know the significant losses that will come under deathcare. These people weren’t bluffing about retiring, or moving into totally different careers.

Would a logical conclusion be that nobamacare will die, crushed by its own weight?

This will make Canada’s system look good by comparison.

How many doctors are going to retire? How many already have?

Not to worry. Those doctors from Kenya and Ethiopia and Salvador etc will be more than willing to work on a salary that is 10 times what they’d be paid at home.

The irony is that in the name of lowering costs, ObamaCare will almost certainly make the practice of medicine more expensive.

That's not irony.

The whole point of Obamacare is to wreck US healthcare so that it can be replaced with socialised, unionised, cradle-to-grave control over the serfs.

As a doctor working for a hospital system, I think you miss the important points. We work on commission, so we are incentivized to be productive.

With Obamacare, we will have a dramatic increase in Medicaid patients. They have no skin in the game (co-pays) and are far more likely to no show for appointments. The hospital loses money treating Medicaid patients, because the reimbursement is so low. I make almost nothing seeing these patients and they don’t listen anyway.

What is likely to happen, aside from early retirement (which I am considering), is that doctors form private groups that refuse to take Medicaid. A friend works for a group that takes only private pay and Blue Cross. It makes the paperwork easier as well.

They’ve been DYING to put us out of business for years and years.

As soon as a doctor becomes a hospital employee, he drops from 72 hours a week to 38.5. Since he hasn’t taken a vacation in 20 years, he takes his four weeks right away, followed by his mandatory CME.

By the time he comes back to the office, 2/3 of the patients have gone elsewhere, AND he gets a raise.

This is what the People have wanted. Hope they’re happy with it.

Obamacare will reduce primary medical care to waiting in long lines at a clinic for a 10 minute visit with a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. Referral to see a physician will take days to a week or more. Referral to see a specialist may take weeks or months. Large top notch medical centers like the Mayo Clinic will be catering exclusively to foreigners or those who can pay cash for their care. I expect medical tourism will become a major industry. Take a trip to the Caribbean or India to get complete medical care with no waiting, but for cash only.

My doctor will no longer oversee medical treatment in the hospital. If he refers me to the hospital, staff doctors I don’t know will handle the treatment

And he is now taking Friday’s off. His nurse praticioner deals with Friday emergencies.

Let’s get the numbers right.

Since as many as 70% of doctors surveyed have said they will QUIT the profession...
\
50% of 30% means that only 15% of the current doctors will be hospital employees.

NO ONE will be seeing a doctor by 5 years from now.

Doctors wouldn’t, or didn’t, get involved in fighting Obamacare back when it was being pushed by the Dems. I wondered why then....still don’t know why they don’t speak up.
