And yet Rand Paul and Marco Rubio placed one and two in their straw poll. And their positions are indistinguishable from Jeb Bush’s on amnesty.

That just means they’ll attack everyone else harder to ensure he’s the ‘only hope for conservatism’.

Why on Earth would CPAC choose him to be a Keynote speaker?

Nice Try Jeb.

Next time actually try and stand for something, then you will have Three Threads on F.R. with 100 + Comments on each about your speech.

Otherwise let the Big Girls do the talking.

The name Bush is not exactly a plus to get elected these days. Ironically Jeb was always the favorite son, far more accomplished than George and always thought by his family and others as the son who would one day be President. His career was severely damaged when his wife got caught shoplifting .Maybe Jeb would be useful to get himself elected to the Senate from Florida. But President? Forget about it.

Jeb wouldn’t be a bad candidate if his last name wasn’t Bush. He’s not an ideal candidate, but I don’t think anyone is.

Regardless of facts, Jeb appears to be the GOP-e candidate that Reince has selected for us in ‘16.

Apparently, Reince, the GOP-e and the Republican party in general are not too interested in either re-taking the WH or adding significant majorities to both houses of Congress.

So, unless something drastic happens, we shouldn’t expect to be too happy in 2017!

Bush fatigue is still alive. Obama won running against it — twice, 2008 and 2012.

Maybe, if Jeb changes his last name to his wife’s hispanic maiden name, he would stand a better chance — and really show that he is ‘progressive’.

This week his has already been flipflopping on the policies he advocated in the book he wrote. That even beyond Romney’s flipflops.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush gave the keynote speech Friday night at the Conservative Political Action Conference 2013

"Keynote speech"? Who picks the speaker for that, and why in God's name would it be Jeb Bush???

/headscratching confusion

Don’t know if this has been posted yet, but Jeb Bush gave the keynote speech at the CPAC Reagan Dinner. Ted Cruz gave the keynote for the 2013 CPAC Conference (the big meeting).

Several have taken this article to mean Jeb gave the main keynote. He didn’t.

I simply cannot get over that a guy who finished up as governor back in 2007 - - and hasn't done jack squat in the last 6 years that I'm aware of - - gets chosen to be the "keynote speaker"(!!) at a conservative conference like CPAC. Why?

Why??

Jeb was a good governor down here for eight years...but the Bush name baggage is just too much. I hoped he would run for Senate and take out Bill Nelson, but he didn’t.
