Several comments:

1) Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
2) Nan has not awakened to the Tenth Amendment, Enumerated Powers, and States Rights, despite her support here.
3) She’s balancing political constituencies, and thinks it’s a Dem win to support this.
4) She smells money. The ability to tax... she may not want to destroy, but she would wish to come close. She’d like to keep pot legal but pricey. Why not capture the drug criminals’ revenues for the government?

PS, I’ve posted pro-legalization for some time. Nancy’s reasons here are substantially different from mine.

It seems a little hypocritical to oppose this, while also opposing the nanny state. It's not cocaine or heroin, which is why so many states already stopped using their resources to deal with it. Those on the left are still tyrants, but I'm not going to base any decision on their stance either.

I don't smoke it, and I don't believe for a second that any kids started smoking it because of this law either. It has been widely available for a long time, and the punishment for personnel use wasn't going to keep people from smoking it. It's mild enough that I have no problem with it being legal.
