Wis. education officials want students to wear ‘white privilege’ wristbands

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction runs several programs that heavily emphasize racial issues in public schools.

Some feel that one of those programs – an Americorps operation called VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) – may go a bit overboard by encouraging white students to wear a white wristband “as a reminder about your (white) privilege.”

Geared towards high school students, the program “seeks to build capacity in schools and districts serving low-income families to develop an effective, sustainable, research-based program of family-school-community partnerships,” according to its Facebook page.

That sounds reasonable enough.

But the program’s approach becomes a bit suspect when one reads the Gloria Steinem quote on the top of its webpage: “The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.”

The webpage also offers a series of suggestions for high schools students to become more racially sensitive. They include:

Wear a white wristband as a reminder about your privilege, and as a personal commitment to explain why you wear the wristband.

Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working.

Put a note on your mirror or computer screen as a reminder to think about privilege.

The Wisconsin DPI also sponsors several similar programs, including CREATE Wisconsin, an on-going “cultural sensitivity” teacher training program which focuses largely on “whiteness” and “white privilege.”

EAGnews will be exposing more about that program in a film documentary titled, “RE-CREATING AMERICA: Cultural Sensitivity in Wisconsin Schools,” along with a two-day written series on the same topic, beginning Monday.

Will DPI’s obsession with race and “white privilege” actually translate into better educational outcomes for all students? Not likely.

But it will continue to divide the state by race and income status, and allow bureaucrats to make a case for more government funding so they can create a different type of America.

Wisconsin taxpayers really ought to be paying more attention to how their education dollars are spent.

Sure, if the illegals will wear yellow ‘ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT PRIVILEGE” and Americans of a darker persuasion will wear “BLACK AMERICAN PRIVILEGE” and all members of the Obama family will wear “STEALING EVERYTHING WE CAN FROM AMERICANS BECAUSE WE CAN PRIVILEGE”.

Nailed it!

ACTUALLY -All American taxpayers are being robbed. This is a national leftist operation similar to ACORN that is funded by federal funds. This years funding = $1.1 BILLION!

AmeriCorps - Discover the Networks

In March 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 321 to 105 in favor of a $6 billion piece of legislation to more than triple the size of the AmeriCorps program -- from 75,000 positions to 250,000 -- over an eight-year period. Also in March, the Senate voted 74 to 14 in favor of a similar, $5.7 billion bill co-sponsored by Senators Edward Kennedy and Orrin Hatch. President Barack Obama signed a compromise measure into law in April 2009. The new legislation increased the value of the AmeriCorps Education Award from $4,725 to $5,350.

Noting that with the passage of the foregoing bill “the federal civilian workforce is being increased by more than 13 percent,” Ronald Kessler wrote:

“Under the guise of promoting volunteerism, President Obama and congressional Democrats have created a massive government program that will push their agenda…. [C]ontrary to Obama’s claim that the program will promote volunteerism, it is in fact another massive government employment program.... By putting a vast army of young people on the government payroll, the Democrats are expanding their reach by teaching the young that government is the answer to every problem. Instead of giving young people an incentive to help others through the free enterprise system or though genuine charity work, Obama and congressional Democrats are creating a make-work boondoggle that will further their control over the political process.”

Just more guilt tripping of anyone who is not Black. Known as the theory of Systemic Racism (white). The theory states that the majority race in a country has a leg up on the rest due to inherent systemic racism. This only applies to America and is a popular theory of teaching and training in a misguided attempt to deal with education disparities between the races. It calls upon the majority (whites) to publicly apologize for the fact that they are racists and apologize to those they have wronged. Only Liberals in Education could fall for this theory and its socialistic basis.

Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working.

The privilege of being born as what is colloquially known as "white trash" actually doesn't work so well, except for the politicians who need that underclass for their own power and agenda. There are generations of "white trash", and few of us manage to escape.

What privilege? I get discriminated against when applying for jobs scholarships, and collage.

Being white is a measurable & demonstrable burden particular if you also happen to be male.

The fact that the people of Wisconsin are being forced to pay for hate indoctrination is disgusting.
