Rep. Paul Ryan: House budget will assume the repeal of ‘ObamaCare’

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Sunday said he will not back down from the battle to repeal the 2010 Affordable Care Act even though some Republicans think the party should move on.

Ryan dismissed criticism that House Republicans have virtually no chance of dismantling the signature legislative accomplishment of Obama’s first term and their efforts might be better expended elsewhere.

He said his budget assumes the repeal of the healthcare law, in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

When host Chris Wallace challenged him on that assumption, Ryan said he would not give up the fight.

“That’s not going to happen,” said Wallace.

“We believe it should,” Ryan shot back. “That’s the point. This is what budgeting is all about. It’s about making tough choices to fix our country’s problems. We believe ‘ObamaCare’ is a program that will not work.

“We believe ObamaCare will actually lead to hospitals and doctors and healthcare providers turning people away,” he said.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) suggested shortly after Election Day that the political calculus had changed on repealing the controversial law, which fired up conservatives in the 2010 midterm election.

“Well, I think the election changes that,” Boehner told ABC News’s Diane Sawyer when asked whether Republicans would still pursue repealing the law.

“It’s pretty clear that the president was reelected, Obamacare is the law of the land. I think there are parts of the healthcare law that are going to be very difficult to implement and very expensive,” he said.

Ryan, however, said he would accept the year-end fiscal deal that raised $620 billion in tax increases compared to 2012 policy but made most of the Bush-era tax rates permanent.

“We don’t want to refight the fiscal cliff. That’s current law. That’s not going to change,” he said.

The House budgeted Obamacare just 2 days ago.

What stupid Kabuki game is Ryan playing and does he really think it’s fooling anyone?

Yep.

As I understand it, this does nothing about Obamacare....it just pretends the GOP had a spine and decided not to fund it.

Political posturing. If his budget presumes something that the House says it will never so (and the Senate will actually never do), then it’s not a real budget. We have to work with reality, not fantasy, even when that reality is unpleasant.

As to fooling anyone, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Yes, they know the Senate won’t pass a budget and that the CR’s will be passed until the next President takes office.... if there is a next President.

“Obamacare is the law of the land”.

It does not have to remain so.

“pretends the GOP had a spine and decided not to fund it.”

Boehner’s trying to help both RINOs and conservatives by giving Dems everything and pretending he didn’t. Now Ryan’s going along.

This ‘plan’ is going to lose us the House.

Some folks like Ryan pretty well. I have considered him to be a weak, silly, insincere Conservative from the very beginning. At a time when we were running $1T annual deficits, he had a bold plan to cut $50B a year. That's a joke.

Now he's going to pretend that Obamacare will be repealed.

He is not a serious person.

Yep. If we could clone Louie Gohmert, obamacare would be just an unpleasant memory.

Sadly, No.

But that does not mean that I am obligated to look up to Paul Ryan and say "His plan is the best plan I've ever heard!!!"

His plans was inadequate and so I say "His plan was inadequate".

Exactly. It was passed either by mistake (”We have to pass it to find out what’s in it!”) or outright fraud. It was obvious while it was going down that few critters had bothered to try to read it. Remember all those assurances by Bam that it would be thoroughly debated on CNN? That illegals wouldn’t be covered? And on and on. The appropriate legal remedy for fundamentally flawed “law of the land” is rescission.
He’s right. Rescind the damned thing.

Obamacare is the second greatest crime ever perpetrated. The election of Obama being the first. It will destroy the country. Obamacare is nothing less than the equivalent of the nation swallowing a bomb with a time delay fuse. The “low information voters” simply have no idea of the destruction up ahead when it becomes the most invasive, burdonsome, expensive, shoddy operation on the planet. Need a kidney stone removed? Get in line for eight months. It’s coming folks.

“Inadequate, not serious, we’ll lose ... “

We’ge been hearing stuff like this for too long.
Paul the younger, Ryan, Cruz, anyone with the balls to take on Obama & Co.—to borrow the Fresno State motto: “Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime.”
I’m in that guy’s corner.

Sorry, but ain't no way Ryan will go against Boner and the GOPe. Look for him to bull sh*t his way in explaining how he's finally "seeing the light" in supporting ObamaCare. I don't trust the guy anymore.
