On issues like immigration and gun control, McCarthy said, he’d be open to taking rogue Republicans across the aisle to work with Democrats.

We know the so-called leadership are sell-outs on immigration, but what sort of gun control legislation do they plan to "work with Democrats" on?

I think Boehner and his gang are basically a bunch of cowards and backstabbers who want to get the illegal immigration issue out of the way so they won't have to deal with it year-after-year. To heck with what it means for the nation and elections of the future.

Let them do this and it will be the final nail in the coffin of this so-called party. Especially on the gun control issue.

This is a declaration of war within the Republican ranks.

If the RINOs want a war with conservatives maybe it's time they got one.

I’ve said it before.

The GOP leadership is not with us. They are democrat lite. They think this makes them appear reasonable to people on both sides, when in reality neither side wants them. Plus they have no MSM friends to spin what they’re doing favorably.

To hell with the GOP leadership. Let them all burn with all the democrats.

They purge out the conservatives, have their little black lists. Dead. To. Me.

The only way to get through to these lame-brains is to hit them hard in their home district.

I would suggest an advertising campaign to their constituents that essentially disavows them as Republicans, and says that they are betraying their home states as well as Republican ideals and their nation.

Done now, outside of election season, it will him them where they are not prepared to be hit.

House Republicans need to remove Boner immediately.

If he remains, we will have open war in the streets.

Our brave "leaders" have managed to rape the military budget - hey why not just go all out and confiscate guns and let illegals into the nation uninhibited too.

I think they’re BLUFFING. They have to know that they will ELIMINATED from politics in less than 2 years if they try that stunt against the country.

I think Sapiro is stirring the pot.

Further down the article after some non committal answers from McCarthy Crowley says I guess I am not going to get an answer on that one.

Then the article acknowledges that :"Boehner has never explicitly endorsed the Hastert rule, but has said he would only bring bills to the floor that were backed by a “majority of the majority.”

It would probably take about 80-100 conservative GOP representatives to formally resign from the house Republican Caucus and form their own party/caucus in order to force Boehner out as Speaker, due to he no longer enjoying the majority of House support required to hold on to his Speakership.

With this many conservatives exiting the GOP house caucus, it will force a special House election for a new Speaker. This large number of defections will also provide insurance against any effort to get a dozen or two Democrats to be able to cross party lines and vote to keep Boehner on as Speaker.

Queen Nancy Pelosi may well end up as Speaker again, if only for a very brief time, until the GOP caucus defectors rejoin the rest of the GOP caucus to again form a House majority, but only after getting the rest of the GOP caucus to accept their conditions for return.

The conservative defectors from the GOP caucus can agree to return to the GOP caucus, but first force the remaining members of the GOP caucus to reject any of the current GOP leadership from assuming the Speakership and insist that the new Speaker bring back the Gingrich/Hastert rule that if any bill up for House Consideration does not enjoy the majority support from the GOP Caucus, then the bill will be pulled from the floor by the Speaker and not voted on.

The Speaker, on their own authority, can pull any bill from the floor of the House and block any vote on it. To override the Speaker and force a vote on any bill that they may pull, the House must come up with a super majority (two thirds majority) to override the Speaker and force a vote on any bill that the Speaker blocks from a House vote.

This isn’t just an ideological/policy problem, it’s a MAJOR strategic and tactical error.

The House GOP needs to be forcing the Dem Senate to produce legislation, hopefully causing fissures within the Dem caucus between Reid and his Progressives and the five or so Red State Dems up for reelection this year.

Up until now, it looked like Boehner/Cantor/et al were doing just that. Now, not so much.

The call for gun control compromise with Democrats came from "House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)." California. In case you didn't see that, Republican--California.
