They are actually different. I have both. Bullet caliber is interchangeable.

No one will miss the difference if you randomly load. 38 rounds intermingled with. 357 magnum rounds. My colt trooper .357 magnum will fire both but the difference between the two is remarkable.
The punks gun is a colt trooper 357, i believe

That’s how I learned to shoot. .38s in my dads 357. Never did want to try the magnum load.

Not quite factual...you can shoot .38’s in a .357, but you can't shoot .357’s in a .38 or .38 special. Bullets and cartridges are two different things. There are just about enough “windbags” out there now without your 2 cents worth.

Interchangable in only one direction. 357 doesn`t go in 38.

;-) I saw your post on another thread.
.357 mag case is about 1/10" longer than the .38 spl but otherwise the same. They wanted to make sure that someone wouldn't try to shoot mag ammo out of the .38 spl revolver so they named it by using diameter between the lands or so I've heard.
For those that don't know one can shoot .38 spl out of a .357 mag but not vice versa. Same with the .44 mag and .44 spl.
