More gun laws = fewer deaths, 50-state study says

By By LINDSEY TANNER, AP Medical Writer – 14 hours ago

CHICAGO (AP) — States with the most gun control laws have the fewest gun-related deaths, according to a study that suggests sheer quantity of measures might make a difference.

But the research leaves many questions unanswered and won't settle the debate over how policymakers should respond to recent high-profile acts of gun violence.

In the dozen or so states with the most gun control-related laws, far fewer people were shot to death or killed themselves with guns than in the states with the fewest laws, the study found. Overall, states with the most laws had a 42 percent lower gun death rate than states with the least number of laws.

The results are based on an analysis of 2007-2010 gun-related homicides and suicides from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The researchers also used data on gun control measures in all 50 states compiled by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, a well-known gun control advocacy group. They compared states by dividing them into four equal-sized groups according to the number of gun laws.

This report is from the same quack doctors that want to question you and your children about whether you have guns in your home or not.

Strike one: AP
Strike two: It’s from Chicago.

We don’t even need a strike three.

Math is not now, nor has it ever been a friend of progressives.

If that is true, then they need to address this...

Why does Chicago have the highest murder rate in the US?

Why does violent crime and homicides rise significantly after passage of gun control?

Why did the murder rate in DC drop after the Heller case significantly?

I’m calling BS on that study.

He Docktor Flea Brain. Take your JAMA Report and jam it where the sun don’t shine!

“Fleegler is also among hundreds of doctors who have signed a petition urging President Barack Obama and Congress to pass gun safety legislation, a campaign organized by the advocacy group Doctors for America.”

Report is most likely biased, skewed, and written by a gun hating liberal. If investigated this will be borne out as usual.

If this study were true, Chicago, New York , Washington DC, and Detroit should have no murders.

I would just guess and say they are counting the burglars and rapists killed in self defense by people who were armed and surely they are right.

Those burglars and rapists would be much safer if innocent people were not armed.

It used to be, many moons ago, that publishing false or misleading information under the banner of “research” would lead to ridicule, loss of credibility, even prison if it meant a loss of income, lifestyle, or freedom.

Nowadays, hawking the same old BS as “new” and packaging it as “research” means you can tell any lie you want and not get called out on it.

Chicago has some of the most oppressive gun laws in the country, yet it’s a third-world hellhole and boasts the highest murder rate in the country. Yet, here they are saying that Chicago, California, and New York are safer than, say, Louisville, KY or Dothan, AL, both very pro-gun cities. This is complete garbage and misdirection, and why they’re allowed to get away with journalistic malpractice is beyond my understanding.

fewer people were shot to death “or killed themselves with guns.” ..................................... Maybe because a running car in a closed garage is the preferred method? Oh, they skipped that part?

Yep. The fake polls and studies are now hitting the media.
The angry lesbians at the Salt Lake Tribune put a fake poll out this morning stating that Utahns want more gun laws...!

Why Doctors Should Not Ask Their Patients About Guns

Should doctors ask patients if they own guns?

Currently, ObamaCare bans the federal government from using patient medical records to compile a list of gun owners. But following the Newtown, CT shootings, President Obama issued an executive order clarifying that “the Affordable Care Act [ObamaCare] does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.” The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) similarly encourages physicians to ask patients if they own firearms — in the name of protecting child safety. As a physician, I consider this advice misguided. Instead, physicians should not routinely ask patients whether they own guns, because it could compromise the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship.

First, the American Academy of Pediatrics is not politically neutral in the gun debate. The AAP supports standard Left positions, including “federal firearms legislation that bans assault weapon sales and the sales of high capacity magazines” and “the strongest possible regulations of handguns for civilian use.” The AAP also recommends that parents “NEVER have a gun in the home” (“NEVER” capitalized in their statement). Their website also cites the now-discredited 1986 claim that, “A gun kept in the home is 43 times more likely to kill someone known to the family than to kill someone in self-defense.”
