North Korea warns U.S. of preemptive nuclear strike
reuters ^ | 3/7/2013 | Jack Kim

North Korea threatened the United States on Thursday with a preemptive nuclear strike, raising the level of rhetoric while the U.N. Security Council considers new sanctions against the reclusive country.

North Korea has accused the United States of using military drills in South Korea as a launch pad for a nuclear war and has scrapped the armistice with Washington that ended hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War.

North Korea, which has one major ally, neighboring China, threatens the United States and its "puppet", South Korea, on an almost daily basis.

"Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to preemptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest," the North's foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

North Korea conducted a third nuclear test on February 12, in defiance of U.N. resolutions, and declared it had achieved progress in securing a functioning atomic arsenal. It is widely believed the North does not have the capacity to deliver a nuclear strike on the mainland United States.

For some reason, the phrase, “Cruisin’ for a bruisin’” comes to mind.

On the other hand, with the president we have now, the North Koreans could nuke California, Oregon, and Washington State, and he’d just set out for another round of golf and blame it all on Bush.

Nukes are more effective when detonated in the air, but a ground burst would still have the potential to kill millions in cities like New York or Boston, when blast and fallout effects are considered.

We are still sending food aid to North Korea. Presumably with tax money we just saved by cutting off food and medicine to our own starving babies. And the food we send to North Korea doesn’t go to their starving babies, it goes to feed the workers and scientists who are developing the nuclear weapons they promise to launch at us.

we will be exercising our right to preemptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest,

On the one hand it sounds like a declaration of war and we should immediately drop a fat one on Pyongyang. On the other hand maybe we should wait until they eliminate DC first just to make sure.

“On the one hand it sounds like a declaration of war and we should immediately drop a fat one on Pyongyang. On the other hand maybe we should wait until they eliminate DC first just to make sure.”

It would be a tough call on the net economic effect of such an attack...but I suppose that we would have to respond...

Seriously, with declarations such as these, I would say that the court of world opinion is probably leaning towards a preemptive strike. From us.

“Their rockets require prep time for liquid fueling and provide advanced warning. “

What good is advanced warning, when we have a president who won’t do anything about it either before or after...

“And we’re kidding ourselves if we don’t think they’re in China’s pocket.”

They always have been and always will be.

A ‘real’ President would send a letter to the Chinese and tell them to put their fat little inbred monkey back in his cage.

Any attack on the U.S. from NK and we immediately unleash our wrath on every major city in China.

Blow up all inbound cargo ships coming from China.

Expell or arrest every Chinese diplomat (spy) from our soil.

End of story.

A nuke delivered by boat or truck would most likely be ground burst with only localized affect. A missile launched nuke detonated at 300,00 (whatever the altitude required is)feet in the form of an EMP would do much more damage to our country. More bang for the buck.

Darn. I’m conflicted here.

On the one hand, I don’t think we’d miss Congress, the Supreme Court, the President or his cabinet. In fact, I think it would be a net improvement if they got vaporized along with K street and a substantial portion of DC’s inhabitants.

But I don’t suppose we could get lucky enough for Norks to take them out.

On the other hand, I don’t want any damage to befall the Smithsonian or the Library of Congress!

All things considered, li’l Kim would be an idiot to do it. His best allies are in DC.

Since one of my sons lives and works there, I have a vested interest in keeping D.C. unbombed. But since NK has orbited a payload about the size of an EMP device, at an effective EMP altitude, that is a major concern. The result for most of us would be starving in the dark.

If NK was actually able to pull this off....Bush would be blamed for having spent 8 years using resources in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of focusing on North Korea.

If so, that means unconventional delivery

Just label the packing crate with the bomb in it as BOOB BELTS or KFC and Michelle will have it flown in on AF1.
