Fleming based his James Bond character on one of the double agents he was assigned to shadow — Dusko Popov.
Oh, there’s a myriad of men he based it on, probably he took a bit here, a bit there. And voila, James Bond.
Not only Popov, but men like Patrick Dalziel-Job, Tom Lethbridge and others.
