Boehner: House will consider any gun measures passed by Senate

The House's top Republican reiterated on Sunday that he will look at any gun control measures passed by the Senate.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he has "made clear if the Senate acts on gun control legislation, the House will consider it."

"But we need to look at more than just guns. We need to look at violence in our society. You know, we've got a violent society," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Boehner said lawmakers need to examine how to stop people with mental illnesses from obtaining firearms.

I’ve got a good friend in OH-8 that could probably successfully primary this guy.

I think I’ll make some calls today.

He’s trying to force the Senate to go on the record.

DHS is ordering 1,000’s of lightly armored tanks for use domestically... and the Repbulicans choose THIS time to cave on our gun rights !?

Yet, we do not have the right to have a T-34, King Tiger or Sherman tank parked in our driveway if we can afford it. We need to disband the DHS, TSA and SWAT teams.

"Looks like Boehner needs some spine stiffening again."

Not at all, in my opinion. He didn't say that the House would initiate any gun measures; he said it would consider any senate generated gun measures. When you have an effective strategy, you execute it, you don't announce it.

we all have to accept that Obama is President, and Harry Reid is Senate Majority leader. We just have to deal with it. So far, the recent "no new laws in the House of Representative" strategy is working. The Republican House needs to continue to talk nice and offer to compromise, but PASS NO NEW LEGLISATION.

Obama is incapable of leading, and Reid can't pass any meaningful legislation without Presidential leadership. Simply let them churn. Nothing will happen, and nothing happening is good.

I agree. Boehner is not only doing the right thing, he’s doing the smart thing.

All he said was that the House would “consider”. In doing so he’s redirecting all the pressure on the Dem controlled Senate ... and going into the 2014 cycle doing anything on gun control would put those five or six red state Dem senators at risk ... Possibly even fracturing the Dem Caucus and causing all sorts of problems with a gun grabbing Dem base that has it’s blood up on the issue.

It’s pretty much brilliant ... create a situation where the Dems may tear themselves apart ... which raises the question of where the idea came from (not from Boehner, obviously)

He said the House would look...he didn’t say they’d pass anything. He’s been criticizing Reid and the Senate for failing to act on a budget or any other significant busines for 2 years now. He can’t be the House version of Harry Reid. He’ll let it come up...it won’t pass.

Actually, we do. I know guys with all sorts of restored and operational armored vehicles. Vintage yes, but still privately owned.

Google “Alan Cors” for instance.

In my own little town tonight we are fighting to keep the 2nd A fresh in our minds.

http://therockwallnews.com/2013/0220/government/mayor-pro-tem-white-accuses-council-member-smith-of-grandstanding-for-the-media

Sent to my council critters via my local Tea Party leaders.

Davidsweet@rockwall.com davidwhite@rockwall.com Jimpruitt@rockwall.com Benniedaniels@rockwall.com Dennislewis@rockwall.com michellesmith@rockwall.com miketownsend@rockwall.com

Dear Councilman:

After reading about the events at the Feb. 18 council meeting I wanted to contact all council members and express my support for the resolution to reaffirm our 2nd amendment in the city of Rockwall.

Our constitutional rights, specifically our 2nd amendment rights, are being threatened by our federal government. As a citizen of Rockwall I want to see our elected officials show a prepared response to these threats.

It is the business of the city council to protect the safety and the rights of Rockwall citizens. I ask you to vote "yes" for this proposal on March 4.

Thank you,

At last Monday's Rockwall City Council meeting a resolution was proposed to affirm support of our constitution, specifically the 2nd amendment. Michelle Smith proposed it. David White angrily opposed it. I'm not sure how the other councilmen stand on it. The proposal was tabled for the next meeting. For more details you can go to these places:

If you believe our constitutional rights, specifically the 2nd amendment, are under attack by our federal government and believe our local government should stand up and speak out against it, please contact our city councilmen and let them know how you stand on this issue.

You can call this number to leave a voice mail or speak with them:

972-771-7700

In addition, if you support the 2nd amendment resolution please attend the next council meeting to show your support. It will be an open forum meeting where citizens may speak to the council regarding any issue for 3 minutes. Please consider speaking.

City Council Meeting 385 S Goliad Monday, March 4 6:00 p.m.

That’s exactly what I think. The left has infiltrated and taken over everything else-education (indoctrination), media, mainstream “Christianity”, now the military-what was left as an obstacle in the path of their marxist juggernaut? An opposition party. It wasn’t timely to come right out and outlaw political opposition yet, so they have done what they do so well-infiltrated it from within and destroyed it as opposition.

Yes, Boehner will take some heat for doing this, but he's denying the Senate and the Left any cover provided by the House's presumed intransigence.

That said, this would probably be a good time to fax a message to your reps suggesting that they "consider" their future employment linked to any such bills.

Typical political two step: first one to say they support the second amendment and the second step to do the opposite.

Yes, just when you thought Boehner couldn’t be any more worthless.

This deal with the 2700 light armored trucks is the most unsettling thing yet. The Civilian National Defense force is just about in place. So what do they have in mind? Something big for sure. We all need to be screaming at our US reps for funding this carpola.

***Boehner said lawmakers need to examine how to stop people with mental illnesses from obtaining firearms.***

Looks like Boehner needs some spine stiffening again.

How about allowing those needing institutionalizing to obtain refuge. A few Boehner-tears for that would help. Also, if preventing them from obtaining unnecessary SSRIs and benzodiazepines would perform a miracle general recovery from the epidemic of mental illnesses caused by them.

I used to live in Rockwall. I've got to say that I'm surprised that any Rockwall city council member would (angrily) oppose a simple resolution affirming the city's support of the 2nd Amendment.

It's a wonderful place to live, so I guess it's to be expected that libs would find their way there and get into city government to push their agenda. David White needs to be defeated by a good conservative in the next city council election.
