A few weeks ago, Ann Coulter announced that she was bored of American politics and was spending her days watching Turner Classic Movies. I confess that, when it comes to Beltway melodrama, I too am fighting vainly the old ennui, and minded to plump up the pillows and settle back with a bucket of bonbons and a beribboned Shih-tzu for an all-night Norma Shearer marathon. At least, unlike Washington, theres a chance you may catch something you havent already seen a hundred times before. For example, Ive a yen to see Roberta (RKO, 1935), in which Irene Dunne sings:
Yesterdays Yesterdays Days I knew as happy sweet sequesterd days . . .
--snip--
Congresswoman Maxine Waters, ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, warned of over 170 million jobs that could be lost thanks to the sequester. There are only 135 million jobs in America, but the sequester gods are so powerful they can eliminate every job in Canada, Britain, and Germany too...

Steyn is amazing! I loved this column.
The man is hilarious.
Am I the only one that had never heard the "Boobs" song?
“Am I the only one that had never heard the “Boobs” song?”
No, I’m Clueless in Carolina on this one, too.
This is what the fuss was about.

Now if he’s added a line about “40ish (and older) actresses getting worried about ‘do I still have it’ “, then they could have added charges of “ageism”.

The parody (We saw your junk!) was a big hit with my lovely bride.
Classic Steyn. He hits every nail squarely on the head, at least twice!
>>> Government-by-fake-disaster-movie seems to be going swimmingly for Obama.
Imagine the old style MGM grand musicals (versus the current bunch of hollywood productions), only we won’t have a happy ending.
Only Steyn’s acerbic humorous style can carry this out so brilliantly.
Describing our current media as the eunuchs of the Obama court is exactly spot on.

I am watching TCM’s now, but I did however watch CSPAN this afternoon cover the AWB S.150 hearings.
The hearings felt hopelessly stacked, but we have good decent people on our side.
I wanted them to sock it to them but they were out numbered with emotional manipulators and emotional props to further their agenda.
Sometimes we need to get emotional to bowl the left over, so, I am studying their bullying tactics watching “The Apartment” on TCM.
We will prevail or we are lost.
Thanks for the ping
They don’t have a real crisis, so they just invented one on the basis of a 3% reduction in the rate of growth of their spending.
This is a tempest in a tea pot, and anyone who believes that the country will go bankrupt and shut down over that small a reduction in the ***rate of growth*** is too stupid to vote.
If you really believe that, then America is going to die, and a gullible citizenry willing to give this laughable charade the time of day will bear ultimate responsibility. We have seen the boobs, and they are us.
What a great description.
