Scandal: A senior administration official tells the reporter who unearthed Watergate he "will" regret challenging the president on the cause and effects of sequestration. Keep digging, Bob. Nobody died at Watergate.
If President Obama has an enemies list, Bob Woodward is probably at the top of it. After all, it was Woodward who started the unraveling of the president's "sequestration apocalypse" mantra by confirming it was the White House's idea in the first place.
When President Obama said the "sequester is not something that I proposed," he lied. His then-OMB Director Jack Lew, recently confirmed as Treasury Secretary, and White House Legislative Affairs Director Rob Nabors pitched the idea to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who pushed it, according to Woodward's book, "The Price of Politics."
When Woodward called a senior White House official last week to tell him that, in a piece in that weekend's Washington Post, he would question President Obama's account of how sequestration came about, he said the Obama aide "yelled at me for about a half-hour," ending with the Nixonesque warning, "I think you will regret staking out that claim."
That official was Gene Sperling, a top economic aide.
Woodward has pointed out the hypocrisy of a president who has added 130,000 highly paid government employees during his tenure, yet flies around the country in Air Force One at a cost of $180,000 an hour, explaining why we can't afford to detain criminal illegal aliens, why we will have to eat tainted meat and why air traffic will grind to a halt.
As Woodward has pointed out, Obama has little credibility on budget matters. On Wednesday Woodward criticized Obama's handling of the automatic budget cuts set to hit this week, calling the president's decision to hold back on military deployments "madness."

Withing days there will be a parsing of the comments that show White House Aid Gene Sperling was talking about something entirely different and Woodward will write a column accepting his apology for the misunderstanding while explaining that it was all his fault for taking the statement out of context.
NOTE THIS PREDICTION!
Excuse the typos. AS usual, I wish there was an edit function here.
The White Hut is sure the dottering old fool is incapable of actually nreporting on them. And they’re right, aren’t they, Bob?

I wonder if a more accurate account of this contretemp wouldn't describe it as Woodward throwing down a marker, calling the administrations bluff, and labeling the administrations tactics for what they are; a crude, ugly, and ham-fisted attempt to bully the press.
I can’t figure out how someone yells at a mild-mannered guy like Woodward, or anyone, for a half-hour. Did Woodward take notes? Sit there in a daze?
Sperling is a psycho and advising 0bama about economics. Explains a lot.

Watergate Bob is trying to sell his latest book.
Barry's brittleness, for want of a better word, will be his undoing. Let this story play out for a few days and watch...

I wouldn’t put it past this bunch to put tainted meat on the market just so they can “prove” it happened because they had to lay off USDA inspectors.
If a senior official of the Bush Administration had made such a comment, the MSM would be screaming bloody murder. As it is, the elite butt kissers of the modern press aren't sure which way to jump.
Here's a hint: treat this the same as if a Republican Administration had made the threat. Show some integrity. Woodward's has - now and in the past... (When Woodward went up against Nixon - Nixon WAS the Establishment. Just like Obama is today. Woodward took on the powerful - corrupt - and crazy. Just like he's doing now... )
How ironic will it be if Woodward takes down a 2nd President....
Barky likes advisers like that. Remember Rahm's Rant? "DEAD! DEAD! DEAD!!!"
These guyz are all Frank Nitti. 'Cept for Valerie .... she's Mephisto, the Communist politburo consigliere.
They should all get up on top of Lenin's Tomb on the Fourth of July in homburg hats and take the salute of the Young Pioneers. Brezhnev's guyz all dressed up for May Day like Sam Giancana's and Meyer Lansky's associates.

I’m waiting for the rest of the press to suddenly grow a spine and start treating Obama like the press treated Richard Nixon, because Obama is acting in much the same manner.
