I was a huge fan of "Tales of Wells Fargo" and he always seemed like a really decent guy.

I don't remember him from the 80's. (that's as far back as my memory goes)But these guys from the 50's and 60's television were pioneers in prime time.
Now all we have is trash like Two and a Half Men and The Bachelor

I was a fan when I was a kid and he played Jim Hardy in Tails of Wells Fargo. Also he and my father were life long friends and they would have lunch together every day in the 90’s and I would drop in once or twice a week. I can tell you he was one of the few very conservative actors.
In recent year I would see him at the Tulsa Gun Show. He had been in bad health for some time. He will be missed.

...his ranch in Yukon, Okla., where he lived until moving to the San Diego area in recent months, ...Well there ya go. That's what did him in.

As I remember, Ronald Reagan was the host of DEATH VALLEY DAYS and when he went on to other pursuits his replacement was Dale Robertson who almost had the same hair.
