Pause for a moment and ponder:

The House is popularly elected to 2 year terms.
The Senate is popularly elected to 6 year terms.

That’s my point. Yours is obfuscation and nonsense.

The Senate was supposed to be insulated from popular sentiment and represent the natural aristocratic/landed/monied class that exists in every society.

If you think Madigan represents his own interests you’re a fool.

How given systems should be and how they turn out are often two different things. The absurdity that states today are somehow bastions of shrinking government is astonishingly naive (what you imply you believe in the types of people that would be elected). Repeal of the 17th would mean 100 Senators unified in their goal of going all out to get as much $$ for their states as possible. You'd never get a pro-small government Senator again... it would be political suicide for a potential candidate.
