St. Augustine
If Obama's words are true, there would be hope for him, however Humility is like a Lighthouse on a cliff, it illuminates all around it, but does not see itself.
One who is humble does not know it except through the reflection of others.
If he were really humble he’d apologize for screwing up our country and our lives with all that he didn’t know despite thinking he knew it all....and then get the hell out of the White House and let someone who really understands the world of actual (as opposed to Communist theory) take over the country.
And he ought to apologize to all of us who called him a flaming idiot.
Well, he sure couldn’t be LESS humble!
I’m literally speechless...
He’s probably among the four or five humblest Presidents of all time.
The only thing that really shocks Obama about himself now is the immense amount of humility that he has.
Well, doesn't that speak volumes...?
He didn't think he would get humbled as POTUS...
Going in to the job should be humbling enough...
This POS was SO arrogant, he thought he could do the job on day one...
The only thing that might have humbled him is knowing he had to steal the last election because most of the country despises him.
He doesn’t have a humble molecule in his body. He more likened to pond scum!
His stating that he’s become more humble is proof that he hasn’t.
Now he understands. So as a Congressman, Obama needed somebody to put pressure on him to do the right thing, or else he just couldn't do it on his own.
Right, and a steaming pile of sh*t no longer smells like a steaming pile of sh*t.
Hurl!
The note Obama placed in HaKotel, 2008
Just last night I was watching this video on Chabad about Baalam and Balak. The rabbi explained that these two knew how to analyze, discover and exploit personality traits, seeking to align the times of God's anger with the times where Israel wasn't "looking so good".
He gave as an example a false friend who would first study the target person's interests/hobbies/personality and then feign commonality in order to gain trust so the victim would fall for the relationship. He even mentioned Carter having a huge dossier on Begin, that was studied in order to exploit every weakness so as to manipulate and seduce Begin.
Well I suppose you'd have to watch the video to see how this Obama quote (esp. the part in bold) fits right in with that. Balak and Balaam were all about discovering/psychoanalyzing God and the people of Israel, in order to manipulate circumstances through craft in order to curse Israel.
When I posted the above image in a post several days ago, I had not yet seen the video [that I linked above], but the words of Obama's note had this really hinky "Balaam" vibe to them, especially the last sentence. I couldn't articulate it and would have had to go off on a tangent anyway, but I had been thinking about the connection ever since. The video in concert with this quote from the article put the pieces together with the note.
Thanks again, Phinneous, for linking to a different video by this rabbi on another topic. In reviewing my own post from the other day that included this image (writing on the wall), I see a whole lot that inadvertantly relates to the Balaams Believe It or Not lesson.
For some reason this brings to mind Churchill’s famous comment on post-war British Labour (socialist) PM Clement Attlee:
‘A modest man - but then, he has much to be modest about’
