Gov. Chris Christie will expand the state's Medicaid program to cover 300,000 uninsured New Jersey residents, The Star-Ledger learned today.
The governor's new budget, which he plans to unveil at joint session of the Legislature this afternoon, also relies on state revenue growth of 4.9 percent and delays some property tax rebates for local taxpayers, according to three sources with knowledge of the budget plan who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Residents of New Jersey - prepare for another earthquake and possible tidal wave.
The governor is shifting his center of gravity from center to left.
What difference does it make? People are still acting as if Romney had a shot at a win. It's clear he did not; not of his own fault but due to the electorate for precisely what you said below... Lemme tell ya, if Chris Christie had personally rebuilt every house destroyed by Sandy, the people living in those houses would say, thank you and promptly march to the polls and pull the lever for the D as per their programming.
The power of incumbency, the "historical nature" of his presidency, his celebrity status and pitch for a mulligan ensured Obama had a lock no matter who or what Republicans nominated. It was further undermined by the strategy of divide-and-conquer that ensured Pontius Pilot "conservatives" sat out at the polls and GOTV efforts.
he was simply too liberal.
Christie is the latest GOP Governor to accept 100% federal funding of Medicaid. It was too good a deal to turn down.
If he's a lib, we need to throw him in with at least 7 other Republican governors, so far.
"Christie, a possible presidential candidate in 2016, joins Republican governors from Ohio, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Florida and New Mexico as well as Gov. Lincoln Chaffee of Rhode Island, an Independent, in embracing the larger Medicaid program."
He's about as good as we're ever going to get here in NJ. The state has the 4th worst unemployment of any state and massive debt, in a large part because of pie in the sky schemes by the last governor, Corzine. The shore area remains a wreck four months after Sandy. I don't want to see Christie in the White House, but if he runs as the VP candidate, and that gets a real conservative the job, sure. He's not half as crazy as Biden.
Romney lost for many reasons, including that he came across as a patrician out of a 1950s sitcom, that he's a generally nice, sober and respectable gentleman who was running against an unprincipled Chicago thug, that the US economy appeared to be improving on election day, and not the least of which is a historically lousy campaign capped by a GOTV plan that imploded on election day. I can see Christie as a VP candidate who would be far more viscous than Ryan ever was.
He’s apparently tacking left so that he can run as a Rat in 2016.
It’s true. The excuse will be: B-b-b-but at least Christie is better than Hillary!
By taking the Medicaid deal it will save the state 27 million dollars that’s why he took it!
“Isnt this the same Christie that many are touting as the Great Conservative Hope?”
No....not really. I’ve heard there is no conservative hope.
He’s not stupid!
“Keep your friends close and enemies closer.”
I saw him in person last week and the guy is 2/3rds the size of this photo of him. He’s not as big as he appears in pictures, and I was 10 feet away from him! I don’t understand it...
Then again...is the liberal media photoshopping? Hmmmm....
Something to think about! I’m serious!
Because any-state that complys thus subjects it’s citizens to the individual mandate.
If a State refuses to comply Washington Still picks up all the bills(if any) and because Washington has no money to implement their own program under the letter of the act of abomination State citizens are not subject to the individual mandate.
“Gov. Christie” Has screwed the entire population of New Jersey to face Washington’s individual mandate.
The 100% funding is total BS because not only is it temporary, do nothing and your not paying for the expansion that didn’t take place anyway.

Oh, I see, our guy is a loser, let me jump on the winning team’s bandwagon cause I am from a blue state and that is what all my peeps wanna see.

Look, I agree that those were all factors but lets not blame “Pontius Pilate” conservatives (whatever they are). Romney’s campaign could not have beaten John Kerry. It was a God awful campaign that did more to alienate all voters (not just conservatives) than attract them.
“...Christie is what Ive always said he is: A fat-ass, Lou Costello look-a-like Fing RINO....”
I would also add a traitorous, communist, butt-kissing, odongo fan. I wouldn’t vote for this POS for dog catcher. Has he changed his party affiliation yet? He needs to be forced out.
been going on blatantly since the CA Recall election and Dubya’s reign of error. Heck some folks on FR could watch a live video of their beloved “R” politician performing a partial birth abortion and still worship the ground they walk on.
