True story — Chick Coop operated on me in 1977 when I was six-years-old and saved my life. I am a little sad. He was a good man.

"Koop is survived by his wife, three children and eight grandchildren. His first wife died in 2007."Wait. Did he really remarry at age 90 plus?

Sang a song for him once. Standing on the sidewalk, outside the hotel he was staying at in Philadelphia (now the Doubletree, had a different name back in 1981). With a bunch of fairly inebriated medical students.
He didn’t come to his window.
RIP Dr. Koop.

He was 96, obviously a crocodile hunting accident to take someone so young.

He served with honor and distinction. He brought dignity to that office and made positive contributions to our nation’s health care system. RIP, Dr. Koop.
