The White House on Sunday detailed how deep spending cuts set to begin this week would affect programs in every state and the District, as President Obama launched a last-ditch effort to pressure congressional Republicans to compromise on a way to stop the across-the-board cuts. But while Republicans and Democrats were set to introduce dueling legislative proposals this week to avert the Friday start of the spending cuts, known as the sequester, neither side expected the measures to get enough support to pass Congress.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
When I first glanced at the title I thought it said” Waffle House.”
Will the sequesterization cut the use of our tax dollars for false or misleading press releases or speeches (or so many ridiculously expensive vacations at our expense)?
I’m genuinely hoping the things they’re threatening us with will happen. I’d lovebto see government leaches laid off and worthless programs suspended. Unfortunately this news is too good to be true
Guess you shouldn’t have come up with the idea, Baraq.
Guess you shouldn’t have signed it into law, Baraq.
Too bad, Baraq. You’re on your own now. Come back when you grow up, mmkay?
Yep, the title has the spelling error.
You just read it correctly, even though it’s spelled wrong.
The sequester is not a cut. It’s a slowing down of the increase. Budgets will still increase.
This is silly.
THIS IS OBAMA'S LIST TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM.
It would be nice to hear similar summaries of the inevitable consequences of continuing to borrow 40% of federal expenditures and for the Fed to buy a majority of the Treasury's massive annual bond issuance with printed money. Or, to hear warnings about the effects that will result from continuing to ignore GAP accounting practices that would require the trillions of $ of additional accrued Federal liabilities to be booked each year, instead pretending they're not real and leaving them completely off-balance sheet.
Squealing like pigs. Obama owns this one, Can’t blame Bush for this one.
I still think the Pubbies will fold.
I think that’s considered “vital funding.”
California: Death, destruction, earthquakes, tidal waves
Hawaii: Death, destruction, earthquakes, tidal waves, volcano eruptions, islands will all sink
Texas: Death, destruction, tornados, state will sink under Mexcican Hordes from the south
New York: No changes
Yeah, yeah. Women and children are going to suffer and old people will have to eat dog food. Blah, blah, blah. When you don’t have facts, you just lie and scare everybody.
If there was a government shutdown, most of us probably wouldn’t notice.
I think they’ll fold too. And then they’ll get ownership and lose this in more ways than one.
For those of you who don't live in this area, here in Maryland the boom still continues, new housing developments keep popping up everywhere wiping out forest and open space .
We are in the $$$$.
I am sure the obamites will find a way to fund their propaganda apparatus after the sequester
If the pubbies fold, the GOP will be a party without a base, campaigning to be the Potemkin Village opposition. The will lose the House in 2014 as a result IMO.
They long for the days they weren’t in charge of anything. It was easier. Back to the Bob Michael days.
“Did I Do That?”
Let’s start cutting the fat out of our broken government budget by canceling Michele’s traveling circus, El Bozo’s never-ending campaign trips, all green energy boondoggles for his cronies, firing all his unconstitutional czars and their little fiefdoms, canceling all sensitivity training and other bureaucratic mumbo jumbo etc etc etc.....
Looking at the data (and ONLY those with $$ attached), the “cuts” are 81-19 Defense of $8.7 Billion total.
I thought it was supposed to be 50-50. I guess that’s why the regime didn’t put numbers on some “cuts”. Cute. Not!
BTW, only seven states (IA, MN, NV, OR, VT, WV, WI) had fewer defense “cuts” than discretionary “cuts”.
