The White House on Sunday detailed how deep spending cuts set to begin this week would affect programs in every state and the District, as President Obama launched a last-ditch effort to pressure congressional Republicans to compromise on a way to stop the across-the-board cuts.But while Republicans and Democrats were set to introduce dueling legislative proposals this week to avert the Friday start of the spending cuts, known as the sequester, neither side expected the measures to get enough support to pass Congress.

When I first glanced at the title I thought it said” Waffle House.”
Will the sequesterization cut the use of our tax dollars for false or misleading press releases or speeches (or so many ridiculously expensive vacations at our expense)?
I’m genuinely hoping the things they’re threatening us with will happen. I’d lovebto see government leaches laid off and worthless programs suspended. Unfortunately this news is too good to be true

The sequester is not a cut. It’s a slowing down of the increase. Budgets will still increase.

It would be nice to hear similar summaries of the inevitable consequences of continuing to borrow 40% of federal expenditures and for the Fed to buy a majority of the Treasury's massive annual bond issuance with printed money. Or, to hear warnings about the effects that will result from continuing to ignore GAP accounting practices that would require the trillions of $ of additional accrued Federal liabilities to be booked each year, instead pretending they're not real and leaving them completely off-balance sheet.

If there was a government shutdown, most of us probably wouldn’t notice.

For those of you who don't live in this area, here in Maryland the boom still continues, new housing developments keep popping up everywhere wiping out forest and open space .
We are in the $$$$.

If the pubbies fold, the GOP will be a party without a base, campaigning to be the Potemkin Village opposition. The will lose the House in 2014 as a result IMO.
