In retrospect we should’ve aided the Soviets in the 1980s, rather than countered them. That nasty Afghan hellhole doesn’t deserve a place on a map.

Interesting thought but chances are Afghanistan would have still ended up under Taliban control when the Soviet Union collapsed so the results would have been the same.

Yep. Big mistake that. Too bad hindsight is 20/20.
Hell, we should have provided money and intelligence to the Soviets for use against the “Mujahadeen.”

Really? We supported the mujaheddin through the Pakistani ISI, who later formed and bankrolled the Taliban after the Soviets pulled out. We still bankroll the Pakistani regime and ISI.
