I have found a couple of 3.4 cu ft washers that are very basic and look like just a standard model. One is a maytag, the other is a whirlpool and both are around $450. I have to check the size of my current one this evening, but I am very tempted to just go with one of these anyway.

I am hearing nothing but bad about the new high efficiency models!

To me the whole concept of “water saving” is bogus. Another fedgov idea gone wrong.

Maybe there are some locations where water is very expensive or rationed, but I think they are minimal.

We have the new HE model and it works fine. The only bad thing about them
is they take longer to wash and if you don’t leave the door open after use
mold can grow.

The good thing about the HE dryer is it works really fast so it all balances out.

A guy in this part of town has set himself up a thriving business selling reconditioned used models. It's not by accident.
