Re: your sinkhole part. Atlanta has a major major infrastructure of sewers and water service that is approaching over 120 years old. There have been cases like you show but on a larger scale - people died in these.

The Federal Government used to fine Atlanta constantly because of sewer overflows, etc. back in Bush’s time. I guess Obama is giving Kasim Reed medals and awards instead.

Why is this? Well, in 1972 Atlanta got its first black mayor and has had black mayors ever since. And, it is the reason why nothing substantive has been done about the infrastructure, education or other public City endeavors.

“Once you go black, you never go back” takes on a whole new meaning. Racist? Yes, probably. But it is true.

No, I don't think you're racist, maybe a "race realist." My father and I had a long discussion on this and he said, "one thing we don't do that the Blacks and most Hispanics do is stick together, whether it is for good or bad." He added, "instead we fight amongst ourselves." First off, if a person understands what America is all about, I don't care on skin color or where they came from. I've voted for Alan Keyes in the 2000 primary over G.W. Bush. I'd vote for Herman Cain, Walter Williams and so on in a minute. Still overall, many minorities tend to be monolithic or nearly so when they vote and what they expect the system to do for them.

We humans are not really that far from the caves. We do have basic animal instincts that lay deep within the R-Complex (Reptillian) part of the brain as well as the more mammalian part called the limbic system. Through millions and billions of years, life has learned many things to survive. Some animals of the same species and type bound together for common survival, it is common evolution, those that learned these ideas survive while others did not. Same with humans, until it is proven that someone who is different is of good character and can be trusted, naturally suspicions will arise. We are still much like that today with the exceptions of those who took the PC hook, line and sinker, they traded their survival instincts to "play kumbaya." We do not need to take the first to the point of enacting genocide of course but the latter is a sure form of suicide. I like what Ronald Reagan said, "trust but verify."

Getting back to my discussion with Dad, I'm afraid he is correct when I go out and verify for myself. I hate to think that way, it even goes against my hard core libertarian beliefs, but I cannot deny the truth.

It's like when we took in my aunt's Burmese cat, Muffin. Because my cousin kicked her when he was high and stoned on drugs, she did not like men. She did warm up to me because over time, she could trust and verify that I'm OK. It's like that with people.

One last note, any Freepers that belong to any of these groups, I'm not talking about you, you get it and I applaud that, I'm just going on what I see at large.
