Jesse Jackson Jr. charged with misusing $750,000 in campaign funds

Federal officials filed charges Friday against Jesse Jackson Jr. after the former congressman reportedly signed a plea deal for allegedly improperly spending hundreds of thousands in campaign funds.

The paperwork was filed at the U.S District Courthouse in Washington. Jackson, who left the public eye last summer for treatment of bi-polar disorder and resigned from office in November, is not expected to make an appearance, but he offered a response in his first statement to the public in months.

FTA, a short ways down:

NBCChicago reported last week that Jackson will plead guilty as part of his plea deal, and jail time would be in the hands of a federal judge who has not yet been assigned. Converting campaign contributions for personal use is strictly prohibited by federal law and opens Jackson up to “not more than 5 years” in prison.

Prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence for between 46 and 57 months plus fines, according to reports.(My emphasis)

Jackson's wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, has also been charged with falsifying her tax returns and reporting less income than she made.>/i>

This story itself is interesting enough. What's more interesting, that I've not read about (in spite of trying), is why the Regime even brought these charges in the first place, when the Illegal is happy to ignore and even participate in worse conduct himself. Must be some really bad blood between him and the JJ Family. Anybody here have any clues?

$750,000 in campaign funds stolen is new record. Most I hear is $10,000 here and $20,000 there. The guy and his wife are psychos.

He spent some on fur capes... like a Rick James wannanee or 70’s pimp

Did they mention his party affiliation or his race anywhere in this story?

I didn’t think so.

I’ll be back later to collect the free beers I should be getting for saying he’s going to do time over this. It may not be hard time, but I still say he’s going to jail. It may be a condition of not putting his wife there too.

Who should replace ex-Rep. Jackson? I hope that Dr. Eric Wallace will win.

Why a rich man would steal money and destroy himself to acquire that kinid of trash is beyond me, unless he, himself, is also trash, which he and his father are.

He will be attempting to blame his “bipolar” condition for his “compulsive” spending habits. If he is tried in Chicago he WILL get off.

Sadly, you are right. The most shocking part of this story is that he actually resigned his seat. No telling why he did.

He won’t be tried at all since this is part of a plea deal and the court is in Washington, D.C. Now he’s waiting for a judge to sentence him and the U.S. Attorney’s office is asking for a sentence between 46 and 57 moknths. Looks like he may actually go down and serve some real time, his wife, too. All of that raises the question, “Who did he PO and why?”

He should call them reparations. He’s been a victim his whole life because of his skin color and this helps mitigate the oppression he has suffered.
