I was listening to some story on NPR yesterday (I know, I know, once the story got my attention I had to hear it through) about how NYC is taking down the “no honking” signs because they haven’t made any difference. One New Yorker whom they interviewed was going on about what renegades New Yorkers are and how just seeing such a sign made them more likely to honk their horns. I rolled my eyes thinking, yeah, right, you guys are such renegades, that’s why you’ve repeatedly elected a nanny who lays down the law regarding what size soft drinks you can have, your salt intake, laws in opposition to your 2A rights, etc, and you’re all out marching in the streets in protest to this nanny statism. What rugged individualists!

Keep in mind that people driving and presumably honking in NYC are not New Yorkers. No one who lives there drives there.
