From various news reports I read, it was the ex-father-in-law that did the shooting.

The son (ex-husband) and his mother had kidnapped the three girls while they were in joint custody with the wife and took them to Central America. He had also taken out a fraudulent home equity loan just prior to that. He was captured, the girls were returned to their mother and he went to jail. He was released in September.

He (son) owed back child support - that is what the hearing was about yesterday.

His father did the shooting.

Thank you. I have been so busy researching and following the Benghazi debacle that it’s hard to keep up with so many other things. I appreciate the info.

>>David T. Matusiewicz, the former optometrist and convicted kidnapper whose ex-wife was killed Monday by his father at the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington, is in federal custody after being questioned by state troopers in connection with the shooting, state police said this morning.

>>Matusiewicz, 45, faces a hearing today in federal court for an unspecificed violation related to his 2009 probation on federal kidnapping and bank fraud charges. Matusiewicz has been free on probation since last year after serving more than three years in federal prison for taking his three younger daughters to Central America for nearly 19 months, and for defrauding Wilmington Savings Fund Society out of $249,000 before he fled.

State police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack said David Matusiewicz was taken into custody inside the courthouse after Monday’s shooting. He has not been charged in connection with the shooting but the incident remains under investigation, Shavack said.

On Monday, his father Thomas S. Matusiewicz, 68, gunned down David’s ex-wife Christine Belford and her friend Laura Mulford in an 8 a.m. attack in the courthouse lobby, according to police. He also shot two Capitol Police officers, and was killed when they returned fire.

Matusiewicz and Belford had a hearing scheduled for Monday about his child support payments, law enforcement and legal sources said.
