The initial reports of the seismic event occurring 1km underground were erroneous. I knew that the 1km figure couldn’t be right when I first heard about it. So, last night, I called up one of my geologist buddies and asked him about it. He looked at his data and calculated it at less than a 10th of a kilometer underground.
So, I’m fairly confident there’s going to be a nice, lovely subsidence crater for me to measure once the satellite imaging comes out.
Cheers!

"Hulun Buir 1, Inner Mongolia, China." Thanks! But, I haven't been able to locate that station. Got a link?
Most of the stations in the region were inoperative ("flat-lined") at the (arrival) time of the event.
And, most of the operating stations that I made "grabs" of earlier... now have all data -- beginning at the AT of the event -- "scrubbed" (flatlined).
Weird stuff!

Looks like pretty mountainous, hard-rock terrain. Hardly anything like Frenchman's Flats...

Solid rock subsidence crater (affectionately known as a "Retarc" (Crater spelled backwards)):
Not as pretty as Frenchman's Flats, but still easily measured.
Cheers!

RE: "Thanks! But, I haven't been able to locate that station. Got a link?"
If your asking for the physical location, yes. Simply paste the coordinates 49.27 N, 119.74 E into the search window in Google Maps, or in Google Earth. It will take you to the site.
Beyond that, I can't contribute, since I am not following this stuff. Only a casual reader.

“Retarc” — OK! I note it also has the characteristic “ring” and instrumentation lead-ins...
I’m assuming those two structures were built post-shot; otherwise, those guys really knew their business! ‘-)
BTW, we’re probably the only two freepers would consider referring to Frenchman’s Flats as “pretty”... LOL!

Yup, lots of pretty craters! I love 'em. Who can honestly view the Sedan crater without being overcome by emotion from the sheer size, beauty, and majesty of it all?!!:
Cheers!
