Dem Congressman: ‘It’s Clear That We [Also] Need to Look at Handguns’
On Friday night’s Rachel Maddow Show, Illinois representative Luis Gutiérrez told guest host Melissa Harris-Perry that the violence in his Chicago district could be cause for lawmakers to take action not only on semi-automatic weapons, but on handguns. Noting (correctly) that nearly 97 percent of Chicago gun murders in 2011, the most recent year for which statistic are available, were carried out with handguns, Gutiérrez said,”It’s clear that we need to look at handguns also.” The recent debate on gun control has centered around reimplementing a strengthened version of the 1994 assault-weapons ban and on limiting magazine sizes. It would leave handguns largely untouched. |

Since virtually every one of the horrific gun crimes we’ve seen in the media has been perpetrated by a leftwing nutcase, including the ex-cop still on the loose, perhaps it’s time we focused on liberals themselves instead of the particular rock or stick they happened to use, and restrict their access to weapons.

actually, it seems pretty clear that Illinois needs to A.) build another couple of prisons and B.) start locking up gang bangers. It’s hard to do that when you can’t even meet your pension requirements though...thanks to all the unions...and all the democrats...and all their various entitlements.

" FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — A judge has decided a Fort Hood shooting suspect still can face the death penalty if convicted in the worst mass shooting on a U.S. military installation.
The judge, Col. Tara Osborn, on Wednesday denied Maj. Nidal Hasan’s request to remove the death penalty as a punishment option.
Osborn was expected to rule later on Hasan’s request to plead guilty to 13 counts of premeditated murder in the 2009 attack on the Texas Army post. But Army rules prohibit a judge from accepting a guilty plea in a death penalty case.
Hasan also is charged with 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. He faces execution or life in prison without parole.
Osborn is holding hearings Wednesday through Friday to reconsider defense motions previously rejected by the former judge."

Don’t underestimate them.
Step 1: Ban evil assault weapons....for the children.
Step 2: Patiently wait for the next Gabby Giffords style massacre with a handgun.
Step 3: Profess amazement that hanguns kill 100 times more people than assault weapons...and use the logic that since AR15’s are banned, shouldn’t the much more dangerous handgun be banned?
Its a carefully planned incremental assault on the 2nd amendment. That’s why the NRA can’t give one inch.
Just like a tax increase, one piece of gun control is never enough.
The end-game is indisputable -— confiscation of ALL arms.
They were banned from the early 1980s until 2010, when the SCOTUS ruled that the ban was unconstitutional. Chicago politicians then wrote new gun ownership requirements that made it very difficult for law-abiding citizens to obtain permission to own a handgun. Criminals, of course, have no difficulty, which is why more than 100 children are shot in Chicago every year.

That’s the ultimate goal. It makes no sense to ban assault rifles because they kill people and not handguns because they kill people. They are using the mass shootings to try to ban assault rifles, and that’s to get a foot in the door. People like Musket Morgan act as though they only want to ban assault rifles, but I don’t believe if for a minute. The ultimate goal is a gun ban. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.
Someone needs to deal with refocusing the dabate.
Nobody should be advocating making it tougher on any level for law-abiding people to acquire and possess and use firearms.
The solution is not more laws criminals are going to ignore.
The solution is enforcing the laws against criminals attempting to get guns - the laws Biden says they don’t have the manpower to enforce now. So why put more laws on the books you don’t have the manpower to enforce, Joe?
The solution is no more easy-victim killing zones. Anywhere.
The solution is letting law-abiding people be abel to defend themselves when threats pop up in their midst.
The solution is to let the good people protect themselves against the bad people who don’t give two craps about the myriad of laws they are breaking trying to rob, murder, rape, whatever victim they’ve targeted.
Then force them to acknowledge their all about gun confiscation from law abiding people and that’s the real plan. They don’t enforce gun laws against criminals, aka Biden, all their ideas are more laws that only the law-abiding care about not violating, because the criminals break laws all the time and more laws that the govt won’t enforce on the criminals doesn’t exactly scare them, so the net result of their “solutions” - taxes, less capacity, less models to use, more govt tracking, etc - ONLY RESULT in harming and restricitng the LAW-ABIDING people, NOT the crimnals.
And watch them stutter and stammer.

I'm anti-abortion. The USSC has decided that a fetus and a baby are not one and the same. So according to law, babies are not being murdered.

It has always been about handguns.
Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.
Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban all of them.
