Wheels coming off... ObamaCare policies will cost more, cover far fewer than promised
New York Post ^ | February 10, 2013 | BETSY MCCAUGHEY

The Affordable Care Act is looking less and less affordable.

Start with the IRS’s new estimate for what the cheapest family plan will cost by 2016: $20,000 a year to cover two adults and three kids. And that will only cover 60 percent of medical bills, so add hefty out-of-pocket costs, too.

The next surprise is for parents who thought their kids would be covered by an employer. Sloppy wording in the law left that unclear until last week, when the IRS ruled that kids won’t be covered.

Starting in 2014, the law will require employers with 50 or more full-time employees to offer coverage or pay a penalty. “Affordable” coverage, that is — meaning the employee can’t be told to contribute more than 9.5 percent of his salary. For example, a worker earning $40,000 a year cannot be required to pay more than $3.800.

But the law doesn’t specifically mandate family coverage — and now the administration says that won’t be required.

Their train will be the last to Auchwitz, they can at least keep the solvent in coverage for a few years until we are all under BammyKare at the DMV.

Anyone still unconvinced that Obama is the Destroyer?

The name and character of Obama is synonymous with destruction. Abaddon, Apollyon, Obama, locust... what’s the difference?

[There are going to be a LOT of 49 employee businesses out there, some of which are 55 or 59 employee companies now, if you get my drift.]

Similar to the consequences of the minimum wage mandate enacted in the 1930’s. Automation became cost effective and machines replaced many low-skilled workers.

Its still all about dominance and control.

And Islam is in control, not a day goes by Obama doesn’t seed more Moslems into running our country.

I swear the people of this country are going to awake simultaneously and in mass without any prompting will head out their doors and will target Moslems everywhere, Moslem cabbies will have their cars burned, moslem teachers will be tarred and feathered, moslem judges will be given a free vacation to a south sea island for at least six months.

I really do think America will get so pissed off and will turn on who they believe is responsible for the ruination of America, because they cannot just google up a street address for The Muslim Brotherhood.

Yeah, that’ll help. Sure.

Yes it will. But the key word is “help”. It’s a risk mitigator. For starters, the cost of living here is a fraction of what it was there.

I could live in my current place comfortably on SS alone, if it were to come to that.

Most (or all) of what I eat could come off my land, if it came to that.

Solar and wind could power all of my electric needs, if it came to that.

Etc.

The percentages have been the same for ages with minor changes here an there. Food stamp recipients are 48 million which is more than the entire black population of the US.

I was just using welfare stats not everything else because their are too many categories.

Personally I don’t know any minorities on welfare. I had a family member who was on welfare because of a major accident but that was only because all the job benefits ran out. I think welfare was meant for situations like that.

Heck, active duty military can qualify for WIC and food stamps.

Because the payoffs and profits are today. Some tommorow or anouther the whole thing comes down, but “now money” is always worth more.

I was thinking of anouther angle. (Hypotheticly) I own a large bowling alley called Steve’s bowling. I have 65 employees and the place won’t run right with 49. What keeps me from shutting down the concession stand and firing 16 people. Then my brothers company “Daves Catering” hires the 16 people I fired and I rents out space in the bowling alley to sell concessions. Outside of changing stationary, nothing changes and I am out from under Ocare.

Shouldn't be asking too much for the President to submit himself and his family to legislation bearing his name.

Indeed...and the entire Congress too.

It doesn’t matter if ANYONE gets health care benefits or how many.... the people who launched this monstrosity will STILL stuff their pockets and we will still be virtual serfs to the ‘fed’... and that is all it’s been about anyway!

We are now living in a post Constitutional and lawless America, and the past four and the next four years are about one thing only - PAYBACK FOR THE RAT PARTY VICTIM CLASS AND LOYALISTS.

Joe the plumber stated it correctly in 2008 - WEALTH REDISTRUBTION.

Thanks for posting this article. I love BETSY MCCAUGHEY!! She actually read the bill before they passed it - and tried to warn us!

From the article....

...the Congressional Budget Office’s much-cited prediction that ObamaCare would leave only 30 million people uninsured by 2016 was based on the assumption that kids would be covered by employers. At the very least, employers insuring their workers for the first time to avoid the penalty are unlikely to do that.

So how will the kids be covered? They won’t. The IRS shocked the law’s advocates by announcing that the insurance exchanges won’t provide subsidies for a child whose parent is covered at work.

Nor will these parents be penalized for not insuring their children — the IRS will kindly consider the kids exempt from the mandate.

Also exempt are millions of people who’ll stay uninsured because their state is wisely choosing not to loosen Medicaid eligibility.

Some background: Despite President Obama’s promises to help solve the problem of the uninsured by making private health plans more affordable, the law expands coverage mainly by forcing states to loosen their Medicaid eligibility rules. But the Supreme Court ruled that the feds can’t command states in this way.

All in all, at least 40 million people could be uninsured in 2016, only 9 million fewer than before the law was passed.

Maybe this awful bill will repeal itself.

If there are 48 million on welfare and there are 38.8% of the entire white (non-hispanic) population on welfare, then the numbers don’t work...

If 38.8% of the entire non-hispanic white population were on welfare, the roles would be much larger than 48M to cover that since 0.388*196,817,552 = 76,365,210 based on 2010 numbers.

When looking at the numbers the way I suggest (48M welfare recipients divvied up in percentages per capita), then the numbers work.

Blacks would be: 19,104,000 (39.8% of 48M)
Whites would be: 18,624,000 (38.8% of 48M)
Hispanics would be: 7,536,000 (15.7% of 48M)

For a total of 45,264,000, which is roughly 95% of 48M (just shy of 95% actually).

I wanted to be proven wrong for two reasons.
1) because I didn’t want to believe that it was as bad as I assumed (blacks in both raw numbers and percentage-wise are heavily over-represented in the welfare roles). IOW, they are way too dependent on the taxpayer/government.

2) I didn’t want to come across as a jerk by calling you out on this mid-thread.

Are you using food stamps as part of welfare?

Your numbers only work if you use the percentages per 46 mil on welfare/foods stamps. I have no idea on how they are actually using the figures.

If you use it per population percentages then whites would have higher numbers.

The R's should be prefacing every comment on Ocare with, "not one Republican voted for this train wreck, don't talk to us about it we did not vote for it."

I haven't heard one R say that no R's voted for this. But I know somehow, some way the Democrats will blame the R's for millions of children and poor people not having health care.
