IMO God gave us Freedom. Liberty and a Free will

The Founders gave us the right to protect that freedom Liberty and Free Will with Arms.

Yes, I came up with it to bounce the Second, which the left hates against the reasons they love the First, which is rooted in their libertine lifestyle. Liberals are not friends to truth. There is no truth in them. And for that reason they do not love the First for the same reason that I do. They do not seek to protect and advance the First for the same reasons that I do. They have a higher authority than Truth and that is The Agenda. The Agenda is more important than Truth. The instant that something the First would protect gets in the way of the Agenda, liberals will strike the First down just as they seek to strike the Second. But for the present, the First is sacred, and that is why I phrased my soundbite that way.

No one gives us rights but God.

The US Government was put in place to protect those rights and they were prohibited from violating them.

Pedantic?

Maybe.

Essential understanding, definitely.

Disappointingly, this appears to concede the Universal Background Check (see tagline).

And,

there is a process in place for an acceptable process for change to the Constitution. It is a changeable document, within the rules. The left just does not want to play by the rules they swore to uphold. I have an idea, you break your oath and advocate an issue that is found to be unconstitutional, you lose. No impeachment, no hearings, no waiting. Immediate forfeiture of position, salary, office and all the gold plated benefits that come with the job. Everything, no insurance, no retirement package, no security detail, nothing. There needs to be consequences for breaking your oath, personal consequences. Hit them in their own pocketbook.

Justice Scalia wrote the Opinion of the Court in the Heller case; that opinion clearly stated that the banning of an entire class of firearms (specifically handguns) was prohibited by the 2nd; two years later the 2nd was incorporated into the 14th Amendment Due Process Clause and applied to the states in the case McDonald v. Chicago. You can find both opinions at the Cornell Legal Information Institute; Here's the link to McDonald
