Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

"I don't want to use the word buffoonery but it really is unbridled police lawlessness," said Robert Sheahen, Perdue's attorney. "These people need training and they need restraint."

Perdue's attorneys said their client was shot at without warning.

"As you know, officers of the Torrance Police Department attempted to kill Mr. Perdue" Thursday, the attorneys wrote in a letter to the agency's chief.

“In the distant past, I managed a gun store and had contact with hundreds of police, state highway patrol, etc. The vast majority were literally about the nationwide average with a handgun.”

I’d say you were being generous. A gunclub I belonged to held a montly informal IPSC shoot. No one special, just a bunch of average guys having fun. One day a couple of cops showed up including the head firearm training officer. They got smoked so bad they never showed up again.

A few years after that I went to a “tactical training” course given by another police firearms instructor. Not to brag but after the first several targets it was clear I could shoot much faster and more accurately than he could (and I am probably somewhat better than average).

I suppose they hadn’t heard that Dorner’s pickup was up in the mountains burned to a crisp.

If he had a dog both he and the dog would be shot dead by the foolish LAPD.

I guess they've run out of dogs to shoot. How the LAPD is killing innocent civilians. They now have total disregard for anyone's life. They're going to end up murdering more people than their own ex-cop fugitive in the process.

Didn’t they just find his truck, all burned out, somewhere up in the mountains? Do they think he happened to have another one just like the other one? Didn’t they get the word? Just another reason to cut southern Cal off from the rest of the continent and let it drift away to sea where, hopefully, it will capsize.

Let’s review how US troops ended up reacting in Iraq....after a year or two there. They’d readily fire on any suspicious car that they felt was going to make a run at the entry point or if the driver showed any unusual head movements.

Hmm really.....2003, 2004, 2006-2007, 2007-2008 in Marine infantry units every deployment; I didn't realize that was the case.........

oh teevee said it was true, so it must be; they can't put stuff on teevee or the internets if it isn't true.

Dorner knew he would put everybody on edge. It wouldn’t surprise me if he holed-up somewhere deep where they wouldn’t find him and killed himself.

The cops would go nuts looking for weeks or months not knowing if he were dead or alive.

Apparently the status of “rogue” cop is a very subtle distinction. It seems the currently “non-rogue” cops are just about as dangerous and a lot more numerous. It’s a good thing only cops can be trusted with guns.

The only reason he wasn’t killed is because he was shot at by police. If it had been anybody with weapons expertise he would be dead. Now he will live to collect and enjoy his millions from the lawsuit his attorney is no doubt filing as we speak.

Suing Torrance doesn’t solve anything. Holding individual officers criminally and civilly responsible would make a difference. If the cops who did this were sued into bankruptcy, put in jail, and their wives and children on public assistance then that would get the attention of the Union Brothers in blue. NOTHING else will do that.

The special laws and protections that Police enjoy must be curtailed. Police powers must be curtailed. The 4th Amendment is a joke to these guys, but nothing changes until they are sued into personal bankruptcy.

“I wonder what he was driving. Was it even close to Dormers?”

Article said wrong color, wrong make, But they are now trying to say that he “tried to run down the squad car that hit him that was part of a detail that was guarding one of the threatened cops homes.” The article quotes a woman who works with the cops who postulates that “everyone needs to stay out of their (the cops) way right now because they are not used to being hunted.”

So the shoe is on the other foot for a change. The “hunter” has become the “hunted.” It’s about time they got a taste of their own medicine.

Exactly! People always assume what they see on tv (and movies) is reality. I guess it means your experience Repeat Offender is useless - after all you are not on tv thus what you say isn't true.

What is amazing to me about Pepsi's comment is that, even if what he/she said was true, it would not matter one iota. So what if American soldiers are shooting suspicious Iraqis in a warzone? That doesn't mean police can shoot American citizens on a whim. It just goes to show the unabated stupidity that masquerades as political thought in the current environment, and how (SOME) Liberals and Conservatives are opposite sides of the same warped coin. Think about it. This morning I was watching some commentators in Maryland say how the Democrats are absolutely evil for allowing American terrorists to be killed by drones (that Dems shoukd not kill Americans allied to AlQaeda using drones). That the Dems should respect American citizens, no matter the cut of their clothe, and not authorize drone strikes on a whim. Ok, alright. Then I read on FreeRepublic what appears to be a post to make people understand why a police officer may be justified in shooting women.

Even if the military was going Rambo on crack in Iraq and Afghanistan doesn't mean that cops can act like Syrian police during a Damascus riot in the United States and shoot civilians without proper identification, proper motive and proper identification (cops are not judge and jury). If it is 'wrong' to blow up some American jihadist wannabe using a Hellfire from a Reaper, then it should be doubly wrong to shoot a fussilade of rounds at two women(and on guy in a seperate incident).

Maybe LAPD should publish a list of all the vehicles they suspect Dorner of owning - Grey Titan, Blue Tacoma, Grey Ridgeline, etc. so that people who drive them can be aware that the cops might be suspicious of them.

Not a grey Ridgeline

Any Pickup between silver and black was a target.

Notice to all LAPD personell: We are searching for Christpher Jordan Dorner, believed to be driving a grey Nissan Titan.

Vehicle recognition guide. A Nissan Titan may appear to look like the following

If you believe there is a match to any of the above, shoot on sight

LOL...first you better issue them the belt-fed MGs they’re requesting because the 10% of projectiles that aren’t hitting trees, bystanders and nearby residences just ain’t getting the job done...

Looks like it’s open season on anyone driving anything that even resembles what Dorner was driving. Even if they’re white. Wow.

They open fire on this guy. They opened fire on a woman delivering newspapers. If I was in the LA area, I would stay away as far as possible from the police right now.
