Weapons, Cold Weather Survival Gear Allegedly Found Inside Christopher Dorner’s Truck

BIG BEAR (CBSLA.com) — Several weapons and cold weather survival gear have allegedly been found inside the burned-out truck owned by accused killer Christopher Dorner, CBS News has learned.

A law enforcement official working on the investigation told the network a Coleman stove, cot and propane gas supplies were found inside Dorner’s Nissan Titan.

Two long-range rifles with suppressors and a Glock handgun were also reportedly recovered.

The truck was discovered early Friday morning on a dirt service road between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit resorts approximately seven hours after Dorner allegedly fired at officers, killing one and critically injuring another, in Riverside. A third officer in Corona suffered a graze wound.

The 33-year-old Dorner is also wanted by Irvine police in connection with the murders of 28-year-old Monica Quan and her fiance, 27-year-old Keith Lawrence, on Feb. 3.

The official also told the network that the discovery does not preclude the possibility that Dorner has additional weapons and gear.

Dorner remains at large. Officers on Saturday resumed their search in Big Bear for Dorner.

Elsewhere in Buena Park, Irvine police confirmed to CBS2 that detectives served a search warrant Friday evening at a storage locker belonging to Dorner.

According to a public information officer, items of evidence were collected.

Either he’s really throwing out misinformation, or something went wrong in his plan.

His truck getting stuck in the mud was not part of the plan — nor was losing all that gear. He burns it all rather than hiding it or taking it with him. That wasn’t smart.

There are not may ways out of Big Bear and it he plans to hike out they will find his bones sometime next summer.

I'd say he's might have a helper...and it is indeed misinformation.

Simple answer is...He needed things to burn and left such a cache...and he had doubles of everything. That info they might be able to track down. His buds would know.

Would like to know if he owned: skis, snowboard, snowshoes, snow mobile....

Agreed. He's laying dead somewhere within 10 miles of that truck.

Something went wrong with his plan. I thought I read somewhere that the axle was busted. They’ll likely find him dead, either by suicide or exposure.

A cot makes little sense to me...except for burning and that’s just what happened...and the same thing with the other stuff...It was all tinder.....

Had he been driving a Volt, this wouldn’t even be suspicious.

My guess if that we won't. I can't imagine any situation where he would have intentionally burnt the guns and survival equipment.

Maybe pretty simple explanation. Leaving them there in vehicle with broken axle may mean he found another vehicle and doesn’t need them any more. He may have commandeered a second vehicle with driver and is long gone back to LA to focus on his real targets. He is on a mission.

Propane leaking ~ could have been the cause of that fire.

Yeah, the reason being that he’s a halfwit who doesn’t have any real planning ability. He tried hijacking a boat, but that “plan” failed when he ran into the little problem of not knowing how the hell to get it started. Then he tried running for the hills... only to get his truck stuck in the mud.

This boy has an IQ just barely above room-temperature. Hell, according to Larry Elder the dumb bastard shot himself by accident when he was in the police academy.

He’s run out of unarmed women and parked police cars full of unaware officers to shoot up, so don’t expect anything spectacular from him.
