BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. All that was left were footprints leading away from Christopher Dorner's burned-out pickup truck, and an enormous, snow-covered mountain where he could be hiding among the skiers, hundreds of cabins and dense woods.
More than 100 officers, including SWAT teams, were driven in glass-enclosed snow machines and armored personnel carriers to hunt for the former Los Angeles police officer suspected of going on a deadly rampage to get back at those he blamed for ending his police career.

¿Rápido y Furioso?
They could definitely place the MANPAD, but the authorities who track the serial numbers will never report the connection to the public.
Nice shot across the bow to The Usurper, though...
Hunting Badger by Tony Hillerman is hereby added to my reading list.
*shrug* I think he is a nutcase, but he is a very bright and calculating nutcase. Shooting the old guy wouldn't fit his plan as the old guy needed to be alive to plant the "He's going to Mexico" meme.
He's doing everything he can to dilute, distract and tie down LEO resources.
He's crazy, not stupid, and probably wronged as well.
If he got out before the storm there is a spider web of 4WD roads N.E. of the lake. He could get into the desert or even Arrowhead without the main highway and his tracks are now covered by snow.
Shooting unarmed people in the back? Emptying their weapons on an unseen target? Three unarmed victims so far -
You wouldn't be a cop by any chance, would you?
Our “guy” in Washington IS gay!
Good morning. I think you’re right: this isn’t going to be over anytime soon or end well, for anyone else.
*shrug*
Maybe. Cops, lawyers, judges. Birds of a feather. Information is only revealed in trials if the questions are asked.
...but the authorities...will never report the connection to the public...
But Dorner would have the right to testify.
You got it right the first time.
A couple of his books have been made into movies.
I don't think I approved of these.

You've outted me; as my daughter is married to a very fine one.
AFAIK, he's never had to shoot his weapon during a run; although he was in a SWAT unit early in his career.
THAT was a TYPO???
Looked just fine the way it was!
The more I read about him, what he himself has written and what his ex-girl friend has said. I think is a narcissist who thinks the whole revolves around him. He has a long list complaints dating back to grade school of everybody that did him wrong. He remembers in detail every time somebody cut in line in front, and the longer it gets from the event the meaner they were to him. I have met people like him before who think every time somebody farts up wind of him is a racist. I think if he were put the stand most of what he said would only shine a light on him and how everybody else picks on him. He is a killer and should be giving no poor baby victim status. He has nothing worth listening to say about LAPD culture. He might have seen cops do bad things but none of them involved killing people like he did. He is not out seek justice for the victims of the LAPD but to get revenge against people who did him wrong.
I love Hillerman, but I didn’t know any of his books have been made into movies. Which ones?
