Yep! Used to ride MY motorcycle around Big Bear............
Don’t think that they haven’t thought of that. That’s how it went in England-regular people were disarmed, then the regular cops. They want complete control of the people who can be armed-themselves, and their minions.
I don’t see the point in burning the truck. It is not as if they would not be able to figure out it was his.
Maybe he wanted them to find it but I bet he wasn’t that smart.
That’s my thought. A motorcycle parked a mile away or so. Park the truck, maybe set a timer to an ignition source, walk back to the bike, ride off, and the truck goes up in flames an hour or two later. Good head start. More than enough time to get back to L.A.
Nah! Read the guy's manifesto. They wouldn't have him as a lefty.
I was born in Walton County. My family has been here since the 1700s at least.
My Father worked at Tyndal after he got out of WWII. They had a massive lay off around 1954 and he later got back on at Eglin. We lived in Defuniak and he retired after probably around 40 years.
Then I guess you qualify as a ‘local’..........;^)
I have a cousin who graduated from UF. He used to have a tag on front which said “native”. The funny thing is tho all his Mother’s family is from around here, he was technically born in Illinois.
My wife and daughter are ‘native’ Floridians. My family moved to Jacksonville in 1969, when I was 14. So I’m Semi-Native!..........
If you are a CCW holder, ask your pol why you can't buy a handgun out of state, since you have already passed a state and federal background check.
The Gun Control Act of 1968 which was really a harsh law which is still hurting us. A few of the provisions have been softened over the years but that was the worst one ever.
The worst part is most of the gun manufacturers stabbed us in the back because it had a provision banning military surplus. That part was dropped in the 80s and I never knew why as both Bob Dole and Teddy Kennedy supported dropping that part of the law. My guess is there was some sort of tit for tat.
I have read many times that the NRA even supported it. That eventually led to a member revolt and big changes in the NRA.
Hes probably back in L.A., or maybe one of the outlying suburbs. Earlier I watched a livestream from KTLA, and the cops were saying theres half a million guys who answer to Dorners description.
I think he's on his way to Oakland.
I read his manifesto. It is written by a well educated person. Insane perhaps; clearly unreasonable in some places, but not stupid. On top of that we know that he spent some time with the Navy and became an officer, a lieutenant.
No person, not even the stupidest gangbanger, will head up a mountain in winter and then signal everyone that he is there by setting fire. The police must believe that he knows what he is doing. Probably he does. The police should be happy that he hasn't mined the area around the truck; probably he has no access to military explosives.
He can't do everything right, but I'm sure he had lots of time to build plans of revenge. I suspect those plans were his major thought for several years now. Even if only 10% of his bravado speech in that manifesto is true, he will be a serious opponent. He has only one problem, IMO: his physical characteristics (namely, size and weight) are quite distinctive.
Punctuation is so overrated...
He could be anywhere in the state, to be honest. He might even still be up around Big Bear somewhere.
Sooner or later, he’ll turn up. He’s got a major grudge against the LAPD, and I think it’s too tempting a target for him to leave it alone for long.
I’ve read some comments on other sites, L.A. Times, Facebook, etc., and he’s got a broad level of support. I think there’s more than a few people that would let him in if he turned up at their door one fine evening. And I mean total strangers.
Yes, but his next target is in Oakland.
(Taking notes)
(-:
Perhaps to cover any trace if the motorcycle he was carrying in the truck to get out if the area
Ah. If I were one of Dorner’s targets, I’d be thinking of taking a nice little vacation somewhere. Somewhere overseas. Like Guatemala. Or Thailand or Vietnam or something.
He has the advantage at the moment. No one knows what he’s driving. I was thinking he may have multiple ID’s as well. I lived for awhile in Westlake Village (MacArthur Park area) and I remember Alvorado Street. Where you get all fixed up with a DL, passport, the whole Magilla (even a California birth certificate) for about $500.
If he’s planned this out, establishing a few fake identities would be highly useful. These fake ID’s, as I recall, were of exceptionally high quality.
Of course, there’s things like Silk Road on Tor, where you can buy real (and registered) UK passports made to order. Sold by a fellow there who actually does work for British Immigration. That’d set you back about ten grand, but if you got the money to burn, well, there you go.
