Report: White House set to cut nuclear arsenal by one-third

President Obama is poised to sign off on a new internal review of U.S. nuclear weapons strategy that would reduce the arsenal by one-third, resulting in billions in savings to the Pentagon and Energy Department.

The recommended reductions were included in a draft version of a classified decision directive compiled by top defense and national security officials inside the White House, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity issued Friday.

While the president has yet to officially approve the directive, including the recommended one-third cut to the nuclear arsenal, sources tell CPI Obama has voiced no objection to the directive's findings.

Representatives from State Department, Strategic Command, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the office of Vice President Biden also played a part in drafting the directive.

White House officials had pushed to get the new directive finalized late last year, according to the CPI report. However, the administration pushed back against that plan.

Political advisers inside the White House did not want the directive released publicly — especially the information on the reductions — prior to President Obama's reelection bid last November, sources told CPI.

Of course they would not want to release this before his recarination. After all, why should the public get a chance to vote on how they are defended. In fact, since it is such a good thing, why would his excellency not want it released before the recorination? (rhetorical question).

Because you guys keep missing the point, the purpose in withholding our vote from Romney is to discipline the GOP. As without a true opposition party we are toast anyways.

And now it’s January 2013 and the GOP is starting to eat it’s own and reveal themselves as the enemies of conservatives that some of us realized they were.

Good. Put the marker down, if the GOP doesn’t turn conservative let it burn.

If we can recover the GOP as a true opposition party all of the Obama pain will be worth it. And if we can’t recover the GOP it won’t matter anyway, assume the crash position.

Glad to see a couple of people say it. I’m certain Obama was reelected by the stay home conservatives who rebelled against Romney as a liberal, or as a Mormon.

Krugman is calling for death panels and more taxes. Health care system trashed. China/Japan near war. N Korea building ICBM’s. Egypt and Iran and a Caliphate. Racism is soaring. Bankruptcy looms. Amnesty.

But hey, they kept a mormon out of the White House.

See you all in Hell. That’s where we are headed.

Yes, indeed. I estimate 25-33% of “us” did.

In before the Hussein Head “freeper” posts that say, “Meh, we still got plenty of them. Focus on anything besides this and the birth certificate”.

Earth to kookoo birds. The GOP is in fact now endeavoring to keep conservatives out. Did you achieve your goal?

And btw I’m sorry to say it but you pretty much trashed FR too. Just like America.

But what does that matter you’re teaching the GOP a lesson. Remind me of that on the day we and all the new Mexican Americans are dying in a nuclear holocaust.

“If we can recover the GOP as a true opposition party all of the Obama pain will be worth it. And if we can’t recover the GOP it won’t matter anyway, assume the crash position.”

Being in the Cleveland area, and observing the loser mentality, I can see it clearly in your damaged logic.

It’s as if the doctor says... we have to kill the patient to save him.

What?

"Our enemies may be irrational, even outright insane,

They do not fear the United States

They respect only the firepower of our tanks,
planes and helicopter gunships."

What they don’t see is they are as deluded and foolish as the GOP establishment they hate. Neither one knows how to win. Or cares enough about what is really best for America.

So why is he doing this now?

He is losing the gun control battle and he needs to throw his base some red meat for cover.

Exactly. You are not welcome in the GOP and neither am I.

What does that tell you? What conclusion do you draw now? Think!
