Will Rep. Paul Broun be Karl Rove's first 'unelectable' target? (Tokyo Rove alert)

Karl Rove may be trying to quell conservative concerns that his new political group is really an effort to crush the tea party. But actions will speak louder than words – and already, Mr. Rove's group may have a test case on its hands.

Rove's Conservative Victory Project has a stated goal of making sure only electable candidates emerge victorious from GOP primaries. But he told Fox News Tuesday: "This is not tea party versus the establishment."

So what is it? The campaign of Rep. Paul Broun (R) of Georgia, who on Wednesday filed paperwork to run for the seat of retiring GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss, could provide clues.

He is exactly the kind of candidate that, in theory, Rove's group would want to weed out. Ultra-conservative on both social and fiscal matters, Congressman Broun has amassed a reputation for making inflammatory and controversial statements during his time in Congress.

I wonder how much damage Rove will have to do to the GOPe before they decide to shut him down themselves.

The GOPe is wed to Rove. They ARE the fifth column
against the GOP and true conservatives.

Never forget how he took out Sen. Thomson, Gov. Palin,
and EVERY conservative candidate for a decade.

I’m pretty sure Broun will never bend and kiss reids’ dirty ring like Saxby Chambliss does. That, alone, make him unelectable in the eyes of rove.

Tokyo isn’t going to have much luck effing around with Paul Broun in the state of GA. He is one of our best. I am planning to vote for him in the Primary. Its going to be a tough choice if Tom Price and Karen Handel both jump in. They are all good but Broun is the most conservative.

Brown will need some money bombs. After I get my AR upper, I’ll be in better shape. Screw Rovie.
