Eddie Routh, the double murder suspect who allegedly killed retired Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield, might have committed the crimes to steal Kyles truck, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 8.
Routh confessed to his sister and her husband about the crime on Saturday night, the document says. When they asked whose black truck he was driving, Routh told them he traded his soul for a new truck, according to the affidavit.

Unbelieveable! (Hi, Kristinn.)
The man suspected in the shooting deaths of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield was previously taken into custody and placed in a psychiatric hospital after a 2012 incident in which he threatened to kill himself and his family, read a Lancaster police report.
According to the affidavit, Eddie Routh, 25, was transported to Green Oaks Psychiatric Hospital for a mental evaluation on September 2, 2012.
On that day, Jodi Routh, Eddie's mother, called police out to her residence in the 200 block of W. Sixth St. in Lancaster. She told police her son became argumentative and threatened to "blow his brains out" after his father said he was going to sell his gun.
SNIP
Weird.
Did you hear about Ron Paul’s tweet “He who lives by the sword dies by the sword”
Hello. Bad situation all around.
Doesn’t sound like he got much of a deal.
Odd why not just car jack someone you did not know
and a Navy Seal at that. Maybe he gave the response he was told to give.
Uh huh. Sure. For a truck.
This is starting to look a little fishy, and that’s compared to how fishy it looked at first. “I traded my soul for a truck”? Who talks like that? Who thinks about committing double murder and getting to keep the guy’s truck as spoils of war?
“Did you hear about Ron Pauls tweet He who lives by the sword dies by the sword
If true (not flaming you) it was very inappropriate. I’ve never been a fan of Ron Paul, going back to the 1970’s living in Houston. He has a way of taking things he says and believes that make sense, make no sense at all
Yes. Sick.
What could possibly go wrong?
Exactly. Doubt very much that he killed for the truck. Sounds like a fatalistic/sarcastic remark to me.
yes its time to condemn the American hero who was trying to help the guy. thats the ticket
No reason to leave the brain at home in your mess kit.
People who are nuts....?!?!?!
Either organically or chemically...........
A completely brain-dead motive.
If I had any money, I would bet it all that this guy was taking killer cocktails of psychiatric meds courtesy of the pentagon.
I’d guess you were correct..............
Have to wonder if Mr. Kyle knew just what sort of shape the guy was in. You know, there’s “struggling” “troubled” and then there’s...nuckin’ futz.
Is Routh a nut?
If Routh was genuinely off his loon, then yes that would be the sort of nonsense you’d expect to hear. I also wonder if he had been involved in the occult or satanism. Who was the “salesman” of the truck... Satan? Who according to the bible owns all the glory of this fallen world?
Go through our prisons interviewing murderers and I doubt you'll find a whole lot of eloquently stated, cohesive and rational reasons they give for their murders.
I would think that such tactics would produce not a guided weapon but a loose cannon.
Well, this is one of the less banal of the reasons proffered. Usually it’s like, “I wanted his sneakers.” No soul selling involved.
Crazy people. Sadly, there are a lot of them. This guy apparently was diagnosed with PTSD, had already threatened to kill his family, threatened to kill himself, had been taken to a psychiatric hospital twice in the last 4 months, etc. Routh apparently had a screw lose.
This is starting to look a little fishy, and thats compared to how fishy it looked at first.
I kind of wonder why, with so many mental issues, Kyle and his friend (Littlefield) felt it was safe to go shooting with this guy. Perhaps they just didn't realize the extent of his problems? I am not really clear on how they came to be at the range with Routh in the first place. I mean from what I am reading about Routh, there is no way I'd want to be around him if he was armed. I have to assume they just didn't realize how mentally ill he was, or Kyle was just the kind of person willing to take a big risk to help a vet in trouble. Very, very sad situation.
Kyle may have meant well, but still it’s odd that he would be so clueless about shell shock/PTSD.
Who talks like that? Who thinks about committing double murder and getting to keep the guys truck as spoils of war?
*************
My guess would be a mentally deranged individual.
It may be a good thing that Chris Kyle took Routh to a gun range as most people there are armed which prevented a scenario where there could have been a mass shooting where dozens could have been killed.
He will be what we are told he is.
Whatever narrative the media is going for these days.
I think he is an evil POS.
One can be evil and a nut... the nuttiness may have something to do with how the evil is expressed.
Depends on whether anyone got to him and ‘guided’ him to how he would receive the most attention and/or reward. Murder an American hero and your infamy is greatly magnified. Much more satisfying than murdering your family.
Snip
The man accused of killing Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle and another man confessed to his sister and her husband that he had killed the men, according to court documents obtained by WFAA-TV.
According to the court records, two witnesses told police that Kyle, Chad Littlefield and Eddie Ray Routh arrived at the Rough Creek Lodge about 3:15 p.m. Saturday to use the shooting range.
One witness told police that he went to the shooting range shortly before 5 pm. and found Kyle and Littlefield lying on the ground. They were covered in blood. The witness said he called for help and began to perform CPR on the men.
When law officers arrived on scene, deputies found the two victims lying on the ground, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Police found numerous firearms at the scene, including semiautomatic handguns, semiautomatic rifles and revolvers.
Meanwhile, Midlothian police received a report from Laura Blevins who told them that she had received a call from her brother and that he wanted to come by and talk to her. Routh told Blevins and her husband that he had murdered Kyle and his friend. She advised him to turn himself in.
She told police that he was driving a big Ford F-250, which police later determined belonged to Kyle. He told the couple that he had traded his soul for a new truck, the documents state.
He then left their home driving the truck, saying he wanted to get to Oklahoma to avoid Texas authorities, the documents state.

If it was, it would be like the decades ago horror stories of the CIA and its LSD-poisoning experiments. Bill Clinton would not have done this, but O’Bummer is quite a different story.
>> Well, this is one of the less banal of the reasons proffered.
Yet the “sneakers” motive is far more believable.
Stealing Kyle’s truck is almost as idiotic as trying to steal his house.
The pic on google street view shows there’s a nice fairly new truck in his driveway with what appears to be a trailer behind. I’m not believing he traded anything for a truck. Either he was being flippant or the meds were talking. If he was hospitalized in Sept., then counseling isn’t working and makes you wonder what meds he was put on. Interesting how many seriously wacked out psychos are out there on muderous rampages these days.
From what I’ve read, Routh’s mother got in touch with Kyle to help her son. She either didn’t know or didn’t let on to Kyle that her son was that troubled.
They’re going to find him insane, he’ll be put in a mental institution but not on a gurney for the needle.
Something about all this just does not sound right.Chris Kyle was a very saavy man, and if Routh was so dysfunctional that he was having impulsive episodes of post traumatic stress, Kyle would have likely known of it.
Routh murdered two men and then proceeded to act rationally, stealing a truck, running from having done what he knew was wrong. If he was so debilitated or hallucinating, he would have collapsed in emotional distress and shot himslef or injured himself. Some things just do not fit.
This has elements of a planned hit, accomplished with some kind of rationality. We do not know what the motive could be, but there are a surprising number of highly effective leaders in the conservative/libertarian field who have been joining the Obama dead pool, from Bloomberg on. Id say that NRA president Wayne LaPierre has something to worry about.
IS Routh being paid to do the dirty and cop an insanity plea? A lot of Islamofascists wanted Chris dead. This is not
a business-as-usual murder. Should we ask the Mossad? LOL.
Rumor has it that there will be or is a bill in Congress to mandate that every state report all mental health information to the NCIC. Interesting approach.
Well, people are killed for less; Air Jordan’s, team jackets, warmup suits, $35 from a convenience store register, etc, etc, etc.
If true
The “if true” was followed by disclaimer. I didn’t doubt it at all and stated my dislike for the freak. The guy fits in there with the preacher from Kansas protesting at vet funerals
I am a firearms instructor, and would not trust anyone with a gun in their hand or on their person. I believe this American hero would feel the same. Something STINKS.
RIP Chris Kyle, and prayers for your family
