Police say Eddie Ray Routh, the 25-year-old suspect in the murder of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield, was tasered after becoming aggressive with jailers around dinnertime Sunday.
After eating dinner, Routh refused to return his food tray to jailers. He became aggressive and tried to attack them when they tried to get it back from him, said Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant.
Jailers tasered Routh and placed him in a restraining chair in his solitary cell. He is on suicide watch, Bryant said.
Bryant also said there have been death threats made against Routh since news of his alleged actions spread.
Update at 2:18 p.m.: Officials say that Eddie Ray Routh, the suspect in the double murder of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield, fled the crime scene in Kyles Ford pickup truck.
Routh is currently unemployed, Bryant said. He could not confirm whether Routh was on medication or was diagnosed with PTSD.
Update at 11:28 a.m.: Eddie Routh, who was arrested on Saturday in connection to the fatal shooting at Rough Creek Lodge and Resort, is being held at the Erath County jail on a $3 million bond, according to officials.
Routh, 25, was arrested on two counts of murder and one count of capital murder, according to Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Kyle was dedicated to helping veterans, especially those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. He helped found FITCO Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization that provided in-home fitness equipment to veterans with PTSD.

Does his meds list look like Adam Lanza’s?
He was a reservist with PTSD means Government meds and counseling.
‘Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant has suggested Routh was mentally ill. He may have been suffering from some type of mental illness from being in the military himself, he said. He was a Marine for four years. There may have been complications from that but we dont know for sure.’
The perp comes across to me as being a Leftist.
They will kill him by morning. It has all the hallmarks of a government snuff operation.
There was a bounty on Kyle’s head by Iraqi terrorists during his time over there according to the video news report.
Maybe the perp was trying to cash in?
yep, this all stinks to high heaven. For all we know this guy was the only survivor of a government hit on the three of them.
If they off him in jail before he can talk, we will know for sure.
They will kill him by morning. It has all the hallmarks of a government snuff operation.
Oh, they will “Jack Ruby” him?
“Routh is currently unemployed...”
(Oh, sure. I’ll bet his “check is in the mail”.)
Repeating what FE said.
I was thinking it myself when reading it.
Many years ago I ran across a high school friend of mine who was just back from Viet Nam. We were sharing a pitcher of beer when he started hatching a scheme where we would both go home, get our rifles, meet on Conch Island, a strip of sand dunes off the coast of St. Augustine, and start hunting each other from opposite ends.
I told him I didn't want to kill him, he started telling me that he was too good for that to happen, started inferring that I was afraid to take him on.
To defuse the situation I just said, you're right, I'm scared.
He messed around for several years trying to get himself killed, jumping off of bridges, walking in front of cars. He may have finally succeeded, it's been years since I heard anything about him.
He probably didn't want to kill me, he wanted me to kill him.
That's a sad story. The moral of the Kyle incident is that head shrinking should be left to the pros. At the very least, you never want to turn your back on a potential head case who also happens to be armed.
No way, I grew up in Erath county. They will try him and find him guilty, then send him to Huntsville for the sleep shot.
Does he have any history with the vics?

He will have his death date in Huntsville.
Can barely wait.
Travis Cox, the director of a nonprofit Kyle helped found, told The Associated Press on Sunday that Kyle, 38, and Littlefield had taken Routh to the range to try to help him. Littlefield was Kyles neighbor and workout buddy, Cox said.
What I know is Chris and a gentleman _ great guy, I knew him well, Chad Littlefield _ took a veteran out shooting who was struggling with PTSD to try to assist him, try to help him, try to, you know, give him a helping hand, and he turned the gun on both of them, killing them, Cox said.
Capt. Jason Upshaw with the Erath County Sheriff's Office said Routh had not made any comments that might indicate a motive. I dont know that well ever know. Hes the only one that knows that, Upshaw said.
Sheriff Tommy Bryant said Routh was unemployed and may have been suffering from some type of mental illness from being in the military himself.
Bryant didnt know whether Routh was on any medication or had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Routh was being held on one charge of capital murder and two charges of murder.
Upshaw said Routh used a semi-automatic handgun, which authorities later found at his home. Upshaw said ballistics tests werent complete Sunday, but authorities believe it was the gun used in the shootings. Upshaw declined to give any more details about the gun.
The U.S. military confirmed Sunday that Routh was a corporal in the Marines, serving in active duty from 2006 to 2010. He was deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Haiti in 2010. His current duty status is listed as reserve.
Routh is being held on $3 million bond. Bryant said he believed Routh was in the process of seeking a public defender.
A knock on the door at Rouths last known address went unanswered Sunday. A for-sale sign was in front of the small, wood-framed home.
Kyles best-selling book, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, detailed his 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009. Kyle said in his book that Iraqi insurgents had put a bounty on his head. According to promotional information from book publisher William Morrow, Kyle deployed to Iraq four times.
Bryant said Kyle, Littlefield and Routh went to the shooting range around 3:15 p.m. Saturday. A hunting guide at Rough Creek Lodge came across the bodies of Kyle and Littlefield around 5 p.m. and called 911.
Upshaw said autopsies were still pending and he could not say how many times the men were shot or where on their bodies they were hit.

He looks like a dork.
with all of these shootings lately and the call for more “meaningful” gun laws one could begin to believe there is a conspiracy afoot. has anyone other than fellow freepers noticed how similar these shooters look in their mug shots?
UPDATE: Alleged shooter tasered at Erath County Jail after becoming aggressive with guards,
I have a feeling the law will have competition.
Prayers for our troops who are serving now and retired. I am very worried.
It’s imperative he makes it to trial.
I’m trying not to read too much into it, but I think they look like robots.
With an insanity defense?
That won’t fly. NOT in Texas.
This murderer is going to die in Huntsville.
He stalked and murdered.
His ‘PTSD veteran’ status is right out of the Janet Napolitano playbook.. Just like Lanza’s survivalist/prepper mom and the survivalist prepper murderer (of a bus driver) currently holed-up in the ground with a little boy. I’m sure there’s many more examples just since Sandy Hook.
Agreed.. Routh will not make it to trial. “An enraged fellow prisoner beat him to death in the prison yard”. Just thought I’d write it first so the news media wouldn’t have to.
If he was a corpral after 4 years active duty his service wasn’t that great.
Remember, TX is a RED state.
They have that look of being a zoombie, as if demons possesed.
It is beyond a “head case”. We are dealing with the “spiritual” here.
Unlike my home state of CT, which is very much “deep blue”, TX is a very DEEP “red state”.
Found a DUI charge Jan 4th 2011; that’s all.
Like an MKUltra program?
he comes across to me as being an alcoholic
The assassin was under the care of
one of Dr. Hasan’s co-traitors (beloved by the US gov’t).
One tinfoil theory has psychiatric patients being programmed to be expendable, deniable, assassins. From my viewpoint, the theory is becoming less tinfoil with each killing.
Not a conspiracy. These conspiracy things need to stop.
Such a sad loss of life. Prayers for His family.
You are so correct about the conspiracy nonsense.
It’s been driving me insane lately, in regards to Free Republic.
