I'm sure we've all seen by now the "photo op" of President Obama shooting skeet. If he's shooting skeet then I'm Daffy Duck.
Now, what's wrong with the president's picture? First the weapon is nearly level to the ground. Can't be skeet shooting, nor likely trap either. Second, it is evident that the President has never shot a shotgun before as his stance is leaning slightly backward. Look at the position of his torso to his legs. Skeet or trap shooters never do this. They lean slightly forward like a boxer in the ring. Third, he doesn't know or was never taught that the butt of the weapon must fit to his shoulder. He's holding the weapon with a gap between his shoulder and the top of the butt. Sure you can fire it that way, but expect lots of pain if not bruising later.

Based on what you can see in the Obama photo and your picture of the range, it looks to me, as if, he was standing in the little grassy spot, by the far right trap house, with the trap house at his back and is shooting, across the driveway, toward the T-shaped line, farther down the driveway.
In the Obama photo, you can see the driveway behind him and just the start of the curve of the driveway, in front of him. Which matches the picture of the range, in that spot.
He more than likely was dropped off at that point, took a couple of staged photos and left.
Sporting clays bouncing rabbit target. Definitely not covey bust (upward L/R/Ctr)
Could be, you might be on to something.
Im not sure at this point where he was standing, just know it wasn’t at any skeet shooting station.
.....as they sit on the table in an unopened carton.
I thought John F-ink Kerry took that honor from Dukakis when he popped out in the bunny suit.
I think the picture is entirely consistent with someone who is shooting skeet for the first time. The butt of the shotgun isn’t firmly against his should. He is leaning back because he is adjusting to the flight of the clay by looking and then readjusting rather than swiveling with the gun.
He is shooting low because he is behind the bird and by the time he finds it and re-aligns it is almost hitting the ground.
It screams rank amateur first time shooter...not photoshop...so the lie comes when he says he shoots all the time at Camp David. I don’t doubt that he has shot skeet there. Wouldn’t you if you had the chance?
Obviously no one cares to teach him anything. Ever seen him bowling? Tragic.
Where can I get me one of those to shoot skeet...
There is an unusual micro-climate at Camp David that causes sudden strong side-drafts. 8-)
A full size shot gun (20 gage) is too long for my arms so I got a youth gun, fits perfect, shoots straight and is loads of fun...no gun expert, but based on my limited experience, I thought the gun butt was not in the proper place for even a small recoil......Only shot it once with the butt placed wrong, didn’t do it a second time...
I concur, It looks to me like he is shooting a low house 7 and the photo is taken from 6. Low 7 is where you naturally take someone who doesn’t shoot as it is a gradually rising straight away. You just lift the muzzle to let the bird sit on top of it. No gun swing. It still does not account for the “we shoot skeet all the time”
Notice how the smoke just wafts up and dissipates? There is no velocity to the smoke. Fake it is.
