You're right about CA, which is my native state. Our immigration laws are a joke and our border has never been enforced and it never will. I damn every politician for that.

Americans are ENTITLED to sovereignty.

Like you said, New Zealand and Australia are isolated and I wouldn't blame those sovereign countries for not wanting us.

We are also known and the 13ers (13th American generation) as well as Gen X. I too hated all things hippie and still do. Our generation has endured the greatest upheaval in family life due to the high divorce rates and as a result we are more conservative and value our families.
Our generation will make a mark in American history, I believe we will save the Republic.

“...but EARLY 1946 was exempted?”

Well.... V-J Day was in August 1945 & the troops started coming home in droves. And recall that old, old joke:

“When is Mother’s Day? Nine months after Father’s Day!” (badabing!)

Anyone born in early 1946 was conceived when the war was still on. Johnny came home on leave & made whoopee but then went back to war. After August ‘45, millions of discharged veterans went home & started doing their thing. By the late summer of 1946, the baby boom had begun in earnest.

The so called greatest generation was a mixed bag, as are the Boomers, as is whatever the next generation is called.

The GG gave us the Great Society, Mediscare (and the future promise of National health care), Keynesian economics, the UN and a lot of other crap.

The line of good and evil passes through the heart of each person, not simply through a generation. If we are to become a great country again, it will start there, if FR is to become engaged in helping to rebuild once again, it will start there.

If you want to see where Texas is heading, just look at California.

I estimate we are about 20 years behind California.

People have completely forgotten how Conservative California USED to be. California... was just like Texas, New Mexico and Nevada (the wild west states). California was the state of Nixon and Reagan.

Everything we are building in Texas now... all these infrastructure improvements ect... these wont be used by our children, they will be used by the children of the Indian illegal aliens flooding in from the South that we now call “Hispanics”

And there is no way a Republican will EVER win the presidency again when Texas eventually flips Democrat due to the influx of Indians.

What is your prescription for this America? God is the only thing that can save this country now.

What will this nation look like in the year 2030? A Third World hellhole, with some wealthy elites protected in beach, mountain and gated communities.

Why are you a member/user of Free Republic? Sometimes I wonder, what with all the anti-Baby Boomer and anti-woman posts. It’s wonderful to see a nice, positive Baby Boomer thread, where our opinions are actually being asked for!

Anyway, the reason I’m a member, despite frequently feeling unwelcome here, is because it’s such a handy site. So many news stories all in one place! It really keeps me up on things.

Born in 1951 in small town Indiana. Grew up playing outside till dark, dad worked, mom stayed home and raised the kids. Went to Catholic school for 8 years, but have not been active for years. Went to college, fell in love, got married in 1972. Never had children and buried my first wife way before her
time. Now remarried to an wonderful ‘’older’’women for last 16 years. Was effected negatively by AA. And have watched the morals of the country deteriorate. Was telling people 15 years ago that there were people working hard to make the normal abnormal and the abnormal normal. Sadly I was right. Based on what I hear from the younger generation in my family the future does not look good. They all think homosexuality is good, think the governments job is to make the world fair, and are enthralled by everything black, urban and ‘hip’. They think that once they get rid of us old white people the world will be a better place. Unlike my generation, as they have gotten older, got a job, bought a house and had kids they haven’t gotten more conservative, but rather more liberal. They are all ‘educated’, but not very bright. They believe everything the media tells them and don’t think much for themselves.

As for the Country I guess the best we can do is get involved in local politics and try to make a difference at the local level, including the school board. Use your free time in retirement trying to make difference. Put your career skills to work doing what you can to change the zeitgeist. On a personal level try to be as little impacted by the government as possible. Not an easy thing to do in today’s world, but do the best you can. Be prepared for the worst and plan to stay safe. Don’t allow yourself to be too dependent on others. Accept the fact that if you are white, old and successful you are the enemy to today’s ruling class and possibly to your kids.

Chose the screen name of Boomer One because I was born in early 1946 (guess how my parents celebrated the end of WWII and my uncles coming home from overseas?). As an “early” Boomer born to older parents (Mom was 38, considered old back then), I was fortunate to grow up with granduncles and grandaunts who well remembered the late 1800’s and carried on traditional values, among them a very strong work ethic, especially since they didn't expect to have the government take care of them. It was common for the elderly to die at home because family took care of them instead of shipping them off to strangers. Both of my grandfathers were self employed, had a strong sense of community, loved America, and worked until physically unable to do so. During the Great Depression, my mother's father refused to allow her to work in his company because she would be taking the job of someone who really needed it. He could support her, thus she had to remain at home and be active in church functions. As a side note, there were many years that his company had a profit of only $1 and he took out no salary. He felt he had to show a profit so the bank wouldn't call his loan. Quite a contrast to today's society where the “smart thing” is to declare bankruptcy and start over. My other grandfather was Secretary of a family business (long since disbanded) who felt it was an obligation to provide for employees. They never made much money but were able to provide steady jobs through hard times for their employees. That gives you a little idea of the background that influenced me.

What is my prescription for America? There are so many things I would do, but I can name only a few here. If America is to survive as a free nation we need to return to personal responsibility and reject government intervention. State's Rights must again be recognized as Progressives have used the Commerce Clause to spread immorality from coast-to-coast, taking away our option to move among like minded people. We need a Congress of normal people, not professional politicians creating their own class of privileged citizens. We also need a media that is not biased and willing to examine issues from all sides instead of being an advocate of the liberal agenda. We must return to an economic system that rewards success instead of penalizing it. Governments must learn that they are stewards of a limited resource, tax revenue, and that hard choices are required to live within your means. It's no wonder that our states who borrowed endlessly to give citizens a “better quality of life” are now facing bankruptcy. It is important that the federal government not bail them out but force them to face responsibility and reassess their priorities.

What will this nation look like in 2030? If we continue on our current course, we will be a minor player in world politics. America will be more divided with gangs of thugs ruling our streets. I hate to say it, but the future cities portrayed in “Robocop” and “Streets of Fire” have good potential to become a reality. However, as my mother, who lived to 100 and observed many administrations, used to say: “The pendulum swings from side to side but always seems to settle in the middle”. I'm hopeful that we can have an era of conservatism that will bring the pendulum back to the middle.

Why am I a member of Free Republic? It gives me access to many articles of interest I would never see otherwise. I can vent, offer suggestions, and communicate with like minded individuals. Frequently I extract information and store it on my computer for future use, often when writing my Congressmen. I am hopeful that being here enables me to have a voice on a larger scale, as on several occasions I have seen my comments mirrored on Talk Radio. It is apparent to me that some people who have the ability to address the masses lurk among us.

Almost everything you mentioned was brought on by people who are either dead or in their late 70’s or 80’s, not by definition boomers. Have Boomers made mistakes, yes, as have all generations. But we have not been the bane of human existence that people like you would have everyone think. Probably the worst things we did or failed to do was not having or taking the time to watch more closely how our children were being indoctrinated by liberal schools, and not fighting harder to fight the deterioration of morality in the country. Too many of us were cowed by the liberal establishment into thinking we couldn’t demand society maintain the same standards we grew up with. We allowed ourselves to be bullied by multiculturism and diversity advocates into accepting the abnormal as normal.

I believe we are seeing things long prophesied. If the nation is still here in 2030 and Christ has not returned by then, I think things will continue to worsen. Technology will continue to advance at an exponential rate, further revealing the total depravity of man and our society. A global government will form led by a dictator in total control of everyone’s life. A one world apostate religion will attempt to absorb or extinguish all other belief systems. If it has not happened by 2030 it will happen shortly thereafter. But don’t despair, the Rider on the white horse waits in the wings......

Don’t get caught up in false nostalgia. The ‘40s through the ‘60s had an awful lot of bad in there as well. In many ways, today is a heck of a lot better, though there is still a lot of bad.

And, if nothing else, there is no longer the constant fear of nuclear war and the gigantic menace of the Soviet Union.

Born in ‘48,
I see repentant prayer as the only way America will be saved. What i feel is that this was the generation that basically threw out God, demanded free-sex and eventually the total breakdown of all societal norms. It has never repented of that, but instead, is very proud that it broke the dam. The 60s radicals, for the most part, went underground to do their greatest harm. They emerged in academia and places that make policy. They have taken over the “high places” and even much of religion is tempered by their beliefs instead of true orthodoxy. So much so that many do not recognize it because it is so ingrained into our religious practice that we now feel it IS truth.

I recall that when Josiah, who became king of Israel at the age of 8, turned 16 and after having been shown the Scriptures, was so struck by how far the nation had departed from them that he called for fasting and repentant prayer. The nation stood for days for the reading/hearing of the Word and the nation repented. Of course, it did not last past his rule, as the nation turned away again. We have not seen a true revival for over 100 years in America. We have had a few presidents invoke prayer at times, but never to fall on our knees before God and seek His mercy through repentance. When you read the polls by Barna and others, about Christianity, there is still a large number of professing Christians. However, when broken down question by question, less than 15% even know what defines a Christian, less than half believe Jesus to be the True Son of God, the Only Way to the Father, etc. Most cannot name more than a few Bible persona and have no idea what they did, why they were in the Bible to begin with. Our so-called Christian population mirrors the public school educational system in knowledge about their faith. This is not saving faith.

This is no longer America. It will not even look that much like Europe in 2030. It will more likely be destroyed, with more of an appearance of Europe after WWII then Europe today. I think God will allow a violent nation to take out our capitol (DC) and many of the large cities will be so destroyed as to render us totally subservient to whomever that is, probably China. The rest of the country will quickly fall in line rather than be targeted. China already has bought more landscape in America than most people are aware of.

I’m a member of freerepublic.com to get information, to share information, and to be part of a community of freedom-loving, patriotic Americans. For the most part, I feel that Freepers are Bible-believing and share my moral and patriotic values.

Your section above is great inspiration. Next to the first generation of rebels, I think any generation that endured great crisis seemed to have among them those that yearned for the good and even strove for it. The Civil War generation, the depression generation, the WWII generation would be examples.

One thing that strikes me is that the Great Spiritual Awakenings always seem to precede crises rather than prevent them, and are even causes of them. The first great awakening led into the Revolution, those people coming to understand freedom. The 2nd great awakening led into the westward expansion in a rush for individual ownership, property, and independence in religion and community. The 3rd awakening led to abolitionists, the Civil War, and "a new rebirth of freedom".

Some say the post-WWII Evangelical revival (Billy Graham the exemplar) coupled with the Viet era generation, the Jesus "Freak" Movement, was a 4th awakening. We see a crisis engulfing us, but we have yet to see how the response to it will explode into a "burned over district" ablaze with faith and freedom.

In all fairness, the end of the Boomers is properly clipped off and becomes “Generation Jones”, since they didn’t get much of the benefits of the Boomers, but did get a lot of the downsides of Generation X.

Secession, hopefully not followed by a Civil War II. But I doubt it. Civil War cometh. Red vs Blue it is inevitable.

Agreed
