RE :”Hope you don’t imagine I was a Romney backer ~ I was the guy holding out to the beider ende for him to BACK OUT and let us run somebody who could win.”

Of all the candidates his positions on illegals was closest to yours, that they will all hop in their pickups and move to Mexico. He beat all the others over the head with it.

It looks like he helped turn out Hispanics to vote, against him. So now we are stuck here with Rubio’s amnesty plan,

Sooner or later, they will be voting and its better they vote for us

I do not agree, ZULU.

The Hispanic vote was 70% for Obama just three months ago. They do not vote Republican, and have not even when it was the GOP under Reagan that gave them the amnesty in 1986.

As a group they have been radicalized by La Raza and Mecha, and they will vote for their Dem masters.

The only effect another amnesty would have, is to ensure that the GOP will never again hold office in the entire Southwest, or the Presidency, at a minimum.

That Republicans are being complicit in their own political demise is astounding.

The narrative that the GOP elites in DC are casting is fallacious--that we have to do this to gain votes. It will never happen.

The only fair and humane thing to do is to concentrate on following the LAW as it exists.

You are here illegally--you go home ad get to the back of the line, and take your kids with you. Then you apply legally and wait your turn.

All this new amnesty does is reward squatters and looters, and makes a mockery of the rule of law, making "feelings" the new law.

You don't read carefully. I'm not suggesting they just hop in their pickups, motorhomes, buses, cars and other vehicles ~ and then run off to mexico.

I recommend first legalizing them temporarily ~ so that they all turn into visa overstays on a date certain ~ 90 days from now perhaps ~ maybe 180 days. That way they can clear their affairs in the open.

Then, before that visa expires they have to leave JUST EXACTLY LIKE EVERY OTHER TOURIST does.

Just give up the pretense that these people are immigrants. There will still be plenty of legal immigrants from mexico. There always are!

Regarding the agricultural interests who have this need for unskilled cheap labor, maybe you guys should just come out in the open ~ out of the shadows ~ and tell us you think the Thirteenth Amendment is out of date ~ that we need to rescind it or rehab it to meet your needs for cheap lettuce.

I dont recall ever posting an argument about that on this site. I dont eat lettuce.

Nor do I care if those on expired Visas get booted as long as those visas were issued when they were adults. in that case they did something wrong.

But if they brought their children here and they (undersage) grew up here and got HS degrees here and arenow adults then they did nothing wrong and they have no home to go to except here. Their only crime is being 'who they are', just like the Jews in Germany.

Have a heart man as Perry would say.

Perry knew very well that American students could not, for the most part, get instate tuition in Texas schools, but Mexicans could.

He had no heart!

I bet the ones graduating from college as you reference above wont be picking lettuce and driving pick-up trucks as you also claimed they all do.

That makes things more complicated.

If they graduated from HS in that state its impossible to make the argument that they are not residents when going to state college, or they are criminals for showing up at public school and graduating.

uh, yeah, the Constitution has been interpeted to give over to the federales the decision on immigration, and just being a visitor ~ no matter how long you are a visitor, does not turn you into a RESIDENT of any state.

There's even a special visa issued to immigrants, and they are subject to the same rules as citizens when it comes to residency BUT non-immigrant visitors are not.
