Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has selected his former chief-of-staff William "Mo" Cowan to serve as interim U.S. senator until a special election to fill the seat left vacant by Secretary of State designate John Kerry.

Barney Fag threw a hissy fit.
And of course he’s black.
It is my sincerest wish that all 100 US Senators be strict Constitutionalists, morally straight, honest and honorable. That said, take a look at the Senate.
As regards Brown: Are the Democrat Senators an improvement? If yes, how do they move the conservative agenda forward? If no, how do you propose to elect a conservative Senator from MA?
At some point reality has to hit us in the face. I’d rather have someone who’s 50-90% with me than 100% against. Politics is practical. You can’t play if you don’t win. Haven’t liberals taught us that over and over again?
We feel the same way, but we must be reality-based in our approach.
Oh Lord. Why would you defend a turd like Brown. Seriously between this creep and the bigger creep Romney, this is why we are in the disaster we are in. Brown is even more liberal then Romney and that is saying a ton. Get rid of your love for at best moderate Democrats. Romney and Brown should not even be called Repubicans. And no having Brown in the Senate does NOT make it better. It makes it WORSE!
Since we cannot agree between electing a lefty GOPer or dem in Mass, why not just send the entire state back to the King’s dominion and let them worry about it. Frankly, I would not miss it nor any of the NE lefty states if it came to that.
Knowing how the Democrats work, I figured Barney was a shoe-in.
Don’t be knee jerk. I am not defending Brown. If you’ve followed this thread you’d know that I wish the whole of America were peopled with small government conservatives. (FR is a conservative website BTW).
Yet, I am a political realist. Show me how to elect a Jim DeMint in MA or IL and I’ll support it. At some point reality must intrude. Liberals get it.
They’ve worked for a century to slowly turn the world their way. They were willing to accept inches despite wanting miles and wait decades when they wanted it all instanter. Aren’t we as thoughtful, patient and persevering?
Think and stop emoting.
Coulda been worse, Barney F** was in the running.
Your rational is driving us to an unrecognizable country. Every compromise we make is towards a more liberal, Godless country. A stand has to be made. Brown showed just how ugly and immoral a man he is when he pummeled the airwaves with ads boasting his support for planned parenthood. I will be praying that more people take a similar stand and that even if it's years off, a conservative revival begins to take root.
My preference is to elect the most conservative candidate possible in every race, everywhere. I don’t see how a rational approach to politics would drive us into liberalism.
Losing either maintains or worsens the status quo.
Pardon me for coming out of right field with this analogy but I would argue that the seemingly rational thing to do if you were a soldier under Hitler would’ve been to follow his orders, no matter how deranged. If you didn’t, you died. What could be more rational? Well, the rational path you advocate is rapidly causing the spiritual, and arguably, the economic death, of this country. Like I said before, we are the proverbial turtle in the warming water.Compromise is always in the wrong direction. Death is certain under this plan. It’s just a matter of time. I wouldn’t bet the farm that a saving, conservative revival takes place anytime soon, but I’m certain that it will not happen as long as we keep electing men like Scott Brown and send no message that we have had enough with milquetoast candidates.
The subject at hand in this thread is Massachusetts.I,too, have lived many, many, many years here...but not as long as you.Having spent so many years in the state I long ago realized that *Massachusetts* already is Godless. That's why,as very imperfect as he is,Scott Brown is the very best that we...that the nation...can possibly hope for from this state. When given two,and only two,choices...half a loaf or no loaf at all...I'll take half a loaf every time.Sadly,to be sure.
Having lived here as long as you have I'm surprised that you've yet to realize that Massachusetts is truly a lost cause.
Well, so far MA has a reputation for electing men like Elizabeth Warren and John Kerry. Brown’s an improvement. Which direction would be better for future MA elections.
PS
The candidate has to win.
To the victor go the spoils and, one of the perks of being the majority party is that you get to change such procedural rules to fit your needs. Only a party of fools would take the alleged high road rather than use the power given by the people who elected them.
That's simple politics, and only one area where the GOPe is either clueless or incompetent.
This means the new appointee can create a Black Caucus within the Senate, and then immediately exclude Sen. Tim Scott.
Barney Frank wanted Kerry’s seat. Wanted it badly.
At the national NRSC level I think it might be best to cede states like MA altogether and focus resources on the heartland and the West for maximum polarization.
