Rochester, N.Y. Gun owners asked police and state leaders how these laws will directly affected them.
The question asked by many of the people was why, why was this law put into place, why weren't there any public hearings before it was signed.
But Tuesday's forum wasn't a time to debate the law but rather learn about it.
They passed this legislation like a theft in the night, said Jeddy Tranquill, who attended the forum.
We feel the law is turning good people into criminals, said 2nd amendment advocate Tony Matuszak.
Two weeks after Governor Cuomo signed the New York S.A.F.E. Act, state officials were in town to try and help people better understand the law.
A large crowd gathered for a presentation at Rochester's Public Safety Building where state representatives broke down parts of the law. But explanation or not, many were still upset overall.
You don't feel that this safe act is unconstitutional? asked a man in the crowd.
Why from a prosecution stand point, Mr. Green, does the state even care what my address is? asked another.
But while questions were answered more kept rising.
Gun and ammunition dealers, like Kordell Jackson, owner of Jackson Guns & Ammo in Henrietta, said even after this forum he still doesn't have a clear understanding of the law.
It's one thing to put in laws and make sure they're governed by our states and everybody pays attention to that, said Jackson, but when it's too unclear it's unfair to us. Then we're [dealers] trying to tell our customers what's the right way to do things and we can't even give them answers.

I am sorry to have to say this, but why do FReepers continue to tell this lie? The latest reports do NOT say the pistols were used, the rifle was used the only shots fired from the pistol were used to kill the perp when he offed himself.
It is nice to argue the merits of the crazed politicians crying out to disarm us but please use facts, not wishful thinking.
“I dont believe that New York has provision for recall of elected officials.”
You are correct.
The only way is if they resign, are impeached, or well, I won’t say it because someone will accuse me of making a threat.

>> why weren’t there any public hearings before it was signed.
Cuz the human foghorn had to prioritize his tyrannical, progressive agenda.
A 227?
Yeah well...
Let’s see what we can do to help change that.
I was just thinking John Lennon would be alive today if only NYC had tough gun laws back then.
No, wait...
So people who would have bought 9mm pistols are going to get .45 weapons instead, until somebody starts manufacturing 7-round mags for 9mm. Salse of 9mm are effectively banned in NY right now.
That meme has been so thoroughy debunked that people who repeat it can now be written off as kooks, like moon-landing deniers. Do you want to keep repeating it?
It’s a 239 blue stainless .40 cal. I also have a Glock 23 that originally came with 13 round magazines. Last year I decided to comply with New York’s 10 round magazine capacity law and spent around $150.00 for 4 ten round mags. What a waste.
Well, speaking of the M1911A1, there are10-rd mags available, but cumbersome. So I use the 8-rd Mitchell or Chip McCormick stainless magazines, rather than the standard-issue old 7-rd steel ones (lanyard hook-loop old Army issue!). This gives a total of 9-rd for Condition 1 carry.

Here’s more food for thought.
