Rupert Murdoch apologized on Monday for a “grotesque” cartoon in his London-based Sunday Times newspaper depicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu building a bloody wall trapping the bodies of Palestinians, after complaints from Jewish groups.
The image, which shows Netanyahu holding a trowel dripping blood, was published on Holocaust Memorial Day and carried the caption “Israeli elections. Will cementing peace continue?”
The Board of Deputies of British Jews said the cartoon was “shockingly reminiscent of the blood libel imagery more usually found in parts of the virulently anti-Semitic Arab press”.
The so-called “blood libel”—accusations that Jewish peoples murder children and use their blood in rituals—go back centuries and have led to persecution and attacks. …

No apology needed. Just fire the people responsible.
I thank Mr Murdoch for the apology... the only thing worse than such a distorted, offensive cartoon would have been had Murdoch not been man enough to apologize for it.
Someday Israel will just lose patience, rise up, and just eliminate the IslamoNazi problem in its neighborhood. Meanwhile, Israel continues to try to defend itself with all sorts of “moderate” and “peaceable” measures (including building its own defense or ghetto walls to try to reduce the number of murderers, bombers, terrorists that can reach Israeli schools, homes, and pizza parlors). And Israel keeps “bringing to the world’s attention” all the threats against it.
Such minimalistic, peace-loving measures are not respected. Certainly the appeals are not respected one whit. Neither by Israel’s local enemies, nor by people anywhere else in the world.
This recalls Josiah Wedgwood’s (Member of Parliament) observation of many years ago:
“We like people who fight, even though we think they are entirely wrong ... The Arabs stand up and fight, and massacre. Make no mistake, they have killed as many of their own people as they have Jews, and they are murderers. On the other hand, the Jews are always complaining and begging for justice. That, of course, is the result of 1800 years of servitude. For 1800 years they have been dependent on the good graces of governments and never on their own right arm, and therefore they have the attitude which instinctively antagonizes every Englishman ... The attitude of supplication, of living on your knees, has had a very bad effect among the respectable nations with the Jews.”
The above were the words of a man who was friendly to Israel, not hostile ... he was just trying to help. One need only review Greek and Roman history, or for that matter the history of the UK or the USA, to see what types of “national defense” measures, what kind of conduct vis-a-vis aggressive or murderous enemies, is respected.
I’m not suggesting Israel’s defense or foreign policies should be determined by what others think. I’m only suggesting that maybe that is part of Israel’s current problem (always trying to earn respect in “the world’s” eyes, but always mis-reading what type of behavior or actions actually earn such respect.)
Does the owner of the NYT apologize for offensive to (fill-in-the-blank - usually Christians)? Does anyone every try to make him /her/it apologize? Was Murdoch forced to do so because he owns FOX, therefor making “conservatives” look the bad guy?
Personally, I am about to decide Mr. Murdoch is actually a jerk, a pseudo conservative making millions off conservatives. FAUX has gone lamestream moderate, but for a couple of programs with guests who are barely conservative invited on most of the time, and the “severely” conservative as guests only some of the time.
But for the Hillary dance recital last week, FOX has been relegated to file #13, at our house.
