If this isn't the perfect PSA for the dangers of texting and walking, we don't know what is.
British radio personality Laura Safe was typing messages to her boyfriend when she walked straight into the icy water of a canal in Birmingham--and it was all caught on CCTV.
"I thought the canal was pavement because it looked dark out of the corner of my eye," Safe told the Sun.

I opened the thread hoping it was my former daughter in law. Girl could NOT put aside her 24/7 texting habit. Annoying as hell.
I am sitting about 100m from the spot where this happened, which is behind a small upscale mall called the “MailBox”.
That whole area is something of a deathtrap for the unwary. Smooth stone steps that become glissades of bone-breaking horror in the wet, and so forth.
She was on a comparatively safe bit, where a misstep merely drops you into 12ft-deep canal water.
Ah Birmingham! Harsh school of life and winnower of the gene-pool! But I’m glad she was OK.
Birmingham......only the strong survive there. Oftentimes, a Honey Badger will drop out of a eucalyptus tree and grab an unwary pedestrian. This woman was lucky a Honey Badger didn’t grab her while she was texting and throw her into a garbage can to be consumed at leisure. Great Uncle Reginald bagged three Honey Badgers in one day in Birmingham. The blighters were playing football and came after him when they missed a penalty kick.
Too bad the video wasn’t a little clearer. Could have been in the running for America’s Funniest Home Video.
In general I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who aren’t paying attention to their surrondings especially if they’re texting while walking OR driving.
There’s a time and place for everything........and that ain’t it.
Just so everyone knows, I have never texted in my life, don’t plan to. Have had a tracphone for about a year (1st cellphone) and am thinking about throwing it in the river..................OK, I’m off my soapbox now. lol
She’ll get her Darwin Award soon enough.
