In my old neighborhood in south San Antonio my neighbors and friends always escorted mayates out. If they didn't take the hint well...... They always took the hint. People are so funny cause liberals think if you're a minority , you all are against " the man". The most vitriolic racist rhetoric comes from older Hispanics. They hate African americans and don't mind showing it.
Yes, this has been going on in the Los Angeles area for a couple of decades now. Compton, like almost every lower-income neighborhood in the L.A.-area, is majority Hispanic now. The only majority black neighborhoods left in L.A. are actually the relatively affluent neighborhoods bordering the Westside in the Baldwin Hills/Leimert Park area. I’ve traveled around Latino-majority neighborhoods as a black man pretty extensively, and with the average Latino person, there’s no major racial issue. The issue is with the Latino gangs — racial conflict is endemic to the prison system, and it spills out, plus there’s just regular competition for turf. Most of the inter-ethnic conflict is really just a function of the larger gang issue. This story sounds like more of the same.
Never knew it well, but I used to think of Compton as a primarily black berg. Worked not far from there.
Maybe it was, or maybe I was mistaken.
It has been a while though since I’ve been there.
