Holmes was doing graduate level study in a psychiatric field. Captain Hasan was, of course, a psychiatrist.

That's 2 out of the last 20 mass killings where the perp is a shrink!

That's a full 10% ~ probably need to evaluate everyone in the entire field.

Nancy Lanza could very well have been mentally ill ~ what little folks have let filter out of the innermost cirlces of her life suggest she was VERY obsessed with her kid and his problems ~ to the point she let her marriage go down the drain.

Pappa could illuminate that side I suppose.

But whatever it was, certainly her degree of obsession was no worse than that of Diane Feinstein who is trying to cast blame for everything on people who had nothing whatsoever to do with any of it.

She's certifiable if anyone is!

“Was Nancy Lanza mentally ill? So far no one is proposing any new laws that would have prevented this tragedy”

Don’t know about specifics, but I’ve seen it noted a questionnaire might ask if there are known mentally ill people, convicted felons, etc. in the household?

Looks like a “nerve” was struck twice today with the two Biden related articles.

... and Nancy would have likely answered no as I would have. It would have prevented nothing

On the flip side, if our Second Amendment rights are subject to a fitness test, many people who need help will avoid seeing a psychologist or a psychiatrist. You'd have to be crazy to go to one of them if it meant permanently forfeiting your right to defend yourself.

And if a screening is required as part of the purchase process, that will be simply another frivolous tax on the purchase. Whether disturbed and planning mayhem or disturbed and buying for appropriate reasons, firearms purchasers who are concerned about passing will simple Google "correct answers to the Biden mental health interview questions" and pass the check. This will not make anyone safer. This will accomplish nothing except to further infringe on our right to keep and bear arms. Still, that infringement is the goal and the far left will consider any infringement a success.

Oh geez, how about if we make mental capacity a condition of being allowed to vote?

or to be Vice President of the US?

Several ways the Brits would caption that photo: “He’s gone ‘round the bend!” or “Barking mad!” or “Certifiable!”

If mental health is an issue, that rules out 95% of our Senators, Representatives, and 100% of the Administration.

I say they should go first. Give up all their guns and security protections. Become the first capital to be gun free zone. Challenge them to tell why the rules they claim will solve the problems should be ignored when applied to the DC area.

“We have found a mental health check, effective with firearms use”

“We have found a quality mental health examination, effective in quality life issues.”

“We have found the now required mental health examination, under the Affordable Extortion-Care Act, effective in and for all indivduals for optimal health.”

“Please submit, the name and date of your required vehicle operators mental health care examination.” “Thank you for your cooperation.”

“Please be prepared to stop for your random vehicle proof of insurance inspection permit, random sobriety tests, and please be prepared to show your updated required annual operator’s insurance mental test permit.”

Hey Joey, you fricking drooling lobotomite - would that include a guy whose hairplugs were lifted from a chimpanzee’s butt - a crackhead who, in a serious national debate, mugged and giggled ala The Joker, a cognitive flatliner who was so fricking dim he had to lift his Senate speeches from some Limey union thug? A guy in the habit of calling himself the smartest guy in the room? A parastie who has never had a real job - who says he used to watch FDR on TV??????? You know what, Joey, you are the Nancy Boy’s poodle - peddling the gun-grabbers’ mad hallucinations in the Old Dominion, for crying out loud. Just when everyone thought you couldn’t be any more goofy, you raise the bar another notch. Amazing!

A judge failed to act correctly in the VATech case ~ he could have commited the guy but he sent him to outpatient therapy.

Yes, it was pretty far along by then. But before that, the parents had the choice to put him in required therapy while he lived at home, or to dump him at school. They chose to dump him at school.

... a mental health check on gun sales may have averted the 2007 mass shooting on Virginia Tech‘s campus.

This is the best that the writers at ABC News can do?

Since this happened in the past, it should read “...a mental health check on gun sales MIGHT have averted...”

A mental health check on Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates might prevent national disasters of misgovernance.
