‘The world is in fact so broken, why are you all so upset worrying about the next maniacal individual? What is a certainty is the fact that all the individual criminals and maniacs the world has ever known have not come close, could never come close, to racking up a death toll anywhere near any of the totalitarian regimes of the last century.
They murdered, under color of authority, over 150 million of their own subjects. And countless billions were left living in fear and slavery and squalor as a consequence. How much less effective would those murdering regimes had been had their subjects been privately armed as are Americans?
“Besides, Miller was bogus.”
I agree yet in recent past years the antis have quoted parts of Miller as justification for their positions.
The “military style” arguement now prevailing in the anti rhetoric is equally bogus given the intent of the Framers to preserve the people’s right to overthrow a government’s tyranny.
The Kentucky and Pennsylvania rifles common to the general population were superior to the military muskets of the day. To assert that the people should be restricted to inferior weapons than the government is equally bogus.
BTTT....thank you for that list!!!
Of course, yes.
“...along with DiFi’s gun-grabbing bill ...”
If she succeeds then she will soon have to write a follow-on bill covering pitchforks, baseball bats, hairspray & potatoes, etc.

“There is call for police to be slightly more heavily armed than civilians.” - TC
Not even close - It is the citizenry that is responsible for keeping the security of the free state. Keeping it free from enemies of the constitution both foreign and domestic. These enemies are like to have full-auto battle rifles, tanks, fighter planes, and helicopters.
Not according to Alexander Hamilton (he got this one right). His retort from Federalist #29:
...if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens.
(hat tip to PJ)
I do think it's ironic that Hamilton was killed by a handgun.
