I made up my mind to quit in 2009, and I did it, COLD TURKEY as they say. Never looked back, and I smoked for fifty years.
Nobody can tell me it’s that hard to quit when I quit after fifty years with little to no discomfort.
My incentive!? Democrats taxing the damned things to the point there was no more real enjoyment smoking. Something I actually enjoyed as I worked around the ranch, but when the cost became so high for me to enjoy lighting up, I quit.

You and me, both, FRiend. I was a Camel non-filter man for 25 years but when they hit a buck a pack, that was it. Never touched another and I did enjoy them. They must cost a fortune today.
I did the same thing.....after almost 50 years. Feels good, doesn’t it?
Great news for you. Are you aware that studies show that the most effective way to stop smoking is to quit “cold turkey.” The hypnotism, gum, support groups, etc. are far less effective. It turns out that nothing works like pure will power. It took me two tries but once I determined that I really wanted to quit, I stopped and never had a single one after that. That was 41 years ago.
