Good article and very true points it makes. I wonder how long it will take - if it ever does - before our society at large recognizes the abysmal failure of its rejection of our Creator's standards for living? Rather than presuming, "God just wants to keep us from having fun.", the Bible is the essential "Owners' Manual" for how best to operate as the beings He created us to be. God loves us and created us to be with Him for eternity, but our rebellion has made us enemies of Him and there IS a huge price. How can we expect to have God's protection and blessings when we live as functional atheists in the world? How pitiful the hypocritical whining and gnashing of teeth whenever something terrible happens in our country - as if God is supposed to be out there keeping everything going good and preventing anything bad from happening! Like we can just take Him off a shelf, dust Him off, and get Him to do what WE want, WHEN we want it. What kind of god do we think we have anyway? A Santa Claus, Fairy Godmother and magic Genie all rolled up into one? And even IF this was the real God, would we respect him or have any kind of esteem for him or would we resent even this kind of god and think him pathetic for being so "easy"?

All this shows is just how rotten we are without Him - that our hearts are desperately wicked and we are powerless to redeem ourselves. Man, left to his own devices, destroys everything that is good or right. It is part of our carnal, mortal and intrinsic human essence and we are doomed unless and until we turn in repentance towards the TRUE God and surrender ourselves to HIS will and follow HIS ways, forsaking our rebellion and admitting we are nothing without Him. Once this happens, we can begin to grow and see things as they really are. Only then, can we together as a nation turn from our wicked ways, seek God's face and pray and he WILL forgive us, heal our land and bless us once again.
